on the question of VR design

Post by kb1gtt »

I just learned that @'s claiming I stole MS hardware design. I think this is great, as most of the design is straight from the MAX datasheet. Perhaps JBPerf has some credit for using it with a floating lead for hall topologies. However JBPerf told me that was discovered when he was talking with MAX tech support. So I don't think he exactly has claim to the feature that's embedded in the MAX chip design. Jean simply dug up a bit of info that MAX didn't document in the datasheet. I have no problems with giving Jean credit for various parts of the design. I've also suggested his product(s) several times which has resulted in direct sales for him. Gotta love watching arm chair lawyers like nobody go wonky like this. Why is @ so concerned with JBPerf's claims to IP? Isn't that JBPerf's thing, not nobody's concern? Does nobody go and harass other people about using my work when I specifically do not want credit? I purposefully leave my name off the license. I would suggest he learns more about IP rights and law then tried to defend his work. He shouldn't be defending someone else's work, as he doesn't know what the originator is trying to control in terms of rights or claims to that work.

I don't think JBPerf cares about getting credit, and as far as I know I'm friendly with him. I often suggest his V2.0 board as it's a quality design. Here's a link the V2.0 board. http://jbperf.com/dual_VR/v2_0.html

I have just emailed Jean the link to this thread. Not the best way to learn about rusEfi, but I think he should be aware of this discussion.

Andrey,

Thank you for notifying me.

I have no claim to any IP on the use the MAX chip and there is nothing on my board that couldn't be gathered from the datasheet (and it's the same for the official MS boards, as far as I know). The floating input thing is also something you can get from the datasheet even if it's not explicitly mentioned as being a Hall sensor setup; I just seem to be the first one who made it more widely known.

So I'm not sure what the drama is and where it comes from but that definitely is not warranted.

Jean

p.s. You can post this reply on your forum if you think it would help.
Jean, thank you for responding so quickly!

Thank you russian for e-mailing Jean about this, and thank you for splitting the thread an such. I agree in trimming it down to minimize what Jean would need to read. As I mentioned on the phone yesterday I was with out internet. As far as I can tell, the claim is bogus and 100% resolved. I certainly have no intention of stealing any ones designs, and I take such allegations seriously. The best I can suggest to @noboby is that he should learn the basics of IP issues before making wild claims.
