Paper test with a used connector was a success! I will be ordering a batch of these boards soon, just need to improve silkscreen a bit.

2009 passat ECU has a few of these huge caps. The bigger one is at least an inch and a half long!

I've heard claims that if you leave your battery completely disconnected on the 2000-ish Jetta, when you reconnect the battery it will act like a completely new animal. I have seen similar caps used on industrial PLC's to store enough energy to keep the PLC's memory for around 2 weeks. These caps might be storing enough energy to power the board when the 12V has been powered. However 75V and 125V is quite high, so perhaps its doing something different.

May be these caps used to absorb energy from inductive loads during switch off?

First batch has arrived! We got it mostly right with a couple of smaller issues.
1) Corners are hitting the plastic
2) P18 P19 etc silkscreen is hitting useful silkscreen

TE was kind enough to make this a real pain. The 3D models are not accurate, as they are missing that feature. The 2D PDF shows the PCB edge which appears to match your real world, but that does not have dimensions. So I PDF2DXF'ed it, then I opened it in onshape. The scale was all messed up and wrong. Once I had the DXF which is perhaps the PCB edge, KICAD was a pain. I eventually figured out that after it's imported into KICAD I had to move it from one layer to another, then it sticks. If I don't do this, then for some reason it doesn't save the imported DXF stuff. When I move the layer, it appears it cleans up some import issue, then it saves. Any how, does this look like the profile you see in the real world? See white line below.

Pretty sure that big Epcos Cap is for the direct injectors. They will be firing at ~60v so those two big orange 75v caps are likely to provide the big jolt needed to do the initial opening.
Now keeping MRE in stock in the UK - https://www.FutureProofPerformance.com

The fact that we see the same thing inside BMW FUEL INJECTION CONTROL MODULEs supports your theory see https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1504&start=30

Sorry for posting in an old thread but was looking for one of these breakout boards. Anyone have a spare from a prototype run? I need one for a breakout for a 2009 Audi TT race car. Issues with the screen and trimming are no problem I can be reached by email at kandpperformance at gmail dot com thanks in advance!

I have two parallel stores for historical reasons and one day I should clean this up.

Aptiv (formerly Delphi) is perceived as one of TE Connectivity's biggest rivals.
Looks like Bosch wanted two suppliers and https://ecat.aptiv.com/product/13830808 is the Aptiv version of same connector?

We've used the datasheet to create KiCAD footprints which are available at https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/tree/master/hardware/Breakout_154pin_284617-1-Connector We have nothing for Eagle.
