On the good side - today we were totally using a forum as a chat while trying to figure out the TS via TTL thing, and I was actually tempted to say 'forum is not a chat'
On the other side - as soon as we get a chat, that would be a 3rd medium - there would be #1 forum #2 wiki #chat. Things would get lost. That's my concern.
What could be done as a compromise would be if more people publish their Skype IDs so that there are more private discussions. If a discussion is private it helps everyone to realize that it would be lost so the important stuff has to go somewhere else.
At some point I've tried adding 'Skype id' field into the profile, but unfortunately it did not go well. It was a plugin and it did not install correctly
