Ahh. OK.
Looks like somewhere around $150 for a complete ECU using the Frankenstein board. Pretty impressive.

Re: Ford Festiva 1.3
Also there is a mention of a "stripped down" version of the STM board for use with this project. Is there a special part number for that?

Re: Ford Festiva 1.3
On the SD card sch page it shows some diodes called D351-D353. No listing in the BOM for them. Are they needed?
Also didn't see an SD slot part # 101-00708-64-ND for Digikey.

Re: Ford Festiva 1.3
I opened the dist. It's a VR type. For sure. Looks just like the pic I linked.
Thanks rus for the update.

Re: Ford Festiva 1.3
I don't see a wattage listed for the 5k resistors for the VR chip inputs. No listing in the BOM at all, but the diagram shows them.

Re: Ford Festiva 1.3
Thanks for the welcome. I understand only the basics. Enough to get in trouble.
So I need the low side design for everything but the ignition which I can use a modded low side mosfet channel to do. Gotcha.
Found the hack on the sch.

Re: Ford Festiva 1.3
So I'm looking at the schematics now. If I'm understanding this correctly the 6 channel high-side driver would be able to do the 4 injectors and fuel pump and ignition. Any reason not to go that way instead of using 6 mosfets like shown in the 12 channel injector driver schematic? I don't understand...

Yep. Looks like this inside.
Strange. There are 3 different types of dists that came in the Festiva.

Ford Festiva 1.3
Stock engine. Mazda B3. Right now I've only started ordering things, so no pics or progress yet. I'll be using the Frankenstein board and a round bulkhead connector to do a completely DIY harness. I have some ideas for a case too, but that's later. For now I'm digging into the docs and ordering. So ...

Ahh. OK, I'll start a separate build thread.
WiKi login is "sketchman". Just now registered.
I'll get the schematics printed off and dig in some more.

Re: Parts Req - Ford Festiva - Stock Engine
More questions. The BOM lists the VR chip, but the man page says not to use one. Not sure which to go with. This might be why there is only one install so far. I'm having to dig quite a bit to figure out what I need. If you had a clear step by step page with a parts list for each step it would be mu...

Re: Parts Req - Ford Festiva - Stock Engine
Another question. When you say I need "a bunch of small resistors" how many and of which one does that mean?
I see 2 different resistors in the BOM and there are parts in the WiKi build page for Frankenstein that I don't see listed in there too. I'm a bit lost.

Re: Parts Req - Ford Festiva - Stock Engine
Yes. Harness to harness by design, but one could easily substitute whatever case they use for the ECU as the bulkhead and do the wiring just as you are doing with the connector you linked. Or solder wires directly to the Frankenstein board from the inside connector half, which is my plan.

Re: Parts Req - Ford Festiva - Stock Engine
Also I just found this. Better deal than the AMP OE style ECU side only connector, and a better end result too IMO.

Re: Parts Req - Ford Festiva - Stock Engine
Oooh. Trailblazing. I'm up for that I guess. I think I understand the basic theory of how MAP works. The computer would have a table to draw a base fuel req value based on RPM then modify it according to MAP signal, yes? Then things can get further complicated with a TPS input down the road....

As it says. I'm ready to build one of these. Curious what I need to get going.
Don't need IAC control if that matters. Stock B3 engine.
