Re: VAG ME7.5 build

Does the selected "Debug mode" add those fields to be logged? Or can you see them real time while trouble shooting?

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

Ahhhh gotcha. I thought that's what "TPS 1 Pri/Sec Diff" was, just wasnt sure what the variance is. Is there a thread or article to read through on the debug channels and how they work? I havent had a chance to search yet, so please forgive me if there are obvious ones out there. The error...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

Can you power ECU via ignition first and only than plug USB? Im not sure, but will try tomorrow evening. The ETB should still work. It's disabling itself because it detected an inconsistency between the primary and secondary (redundant) position sensors. Try turning the ignition on, and pressing th...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

Calibrate your TPS with the ignition on. The ECU's power supply sags by ~0.2-0.4 volt when powered by USB, so the TPS consistency checking fails when the voltage rises up to the nominal level when powered via the ignition switch. When you turn the ignition on, check a red indicator coming on down a...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

I'm pulling my hair out here lol. Got the ecu in the car, calibrated sensors, checked I/Os etc. ETB is being weird. I can get the car to start but then I think the TB closes and it shuts off. I was having issues with the ETB working with the key off, but not key on and thought it was my 12v MR sourc...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

Well done!! No video of the engine running?? Not yet, hopefully this week! The EBT needs work and it would fire and then die after a couple of secs. Theres something going on where the EBT works with the key off, but not with the key on. I had limited time to monkey with it before I left town for t...

Its alive! Well, kind of lol. Leaving on a trip today for the weekend and reeeeeeeally wanted to see if I could get the car to start before I left. Dinked with it a lil bit last night before an evening meeting and got it to start!! ETB calibration was a little clunky and took some fiddling, it's sti...

Re: Fw. improvement - PANIC BUTTON

I reckon mental resources would be better suited to building better failsafes via corrections or limp mode. The ECU will find fault and shut things down far faster than a person can compute that theres a problem and manually hit a button. I used to like gauges and warning lights in my cars. Nowadays...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

Had some time this weekend and buttoned up this patch harness, as well as built out the Spartan 2 to be pnp into the 2nd O2 sensor at the factory harness. This way I can leave the primary 02 sensor in the DP and hooked up so I can go back and forth between ecus should I need to. All I have left befo...

Yes, 'ON' if engine is running, 'OFF' if stopped or cranking - I've just added a clarification tooltip. I would hope that speedo is CAN? No? Just a random guess here. Awesome to know and thanks for the insight. I was hoping it was going to be that easy! I'm not exactly sure on the speedo. I havent ...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

An extra ignition output is probably your best bet. If that doesn't work, I'd try a high side 12v output. If you have a scope you can just probe the wire on the OEM setup. Hmmm....I'll think on that as it's not computing right now lol. How would I set that as an ouput? I'm not even sure if the spee...

Re: VAG ME7.5 build

You can also use analog inputs as digital inputs, by the way. Analog temp inputs have a built in pullup to 5 volts, and analog volt inputs have a very weak pulldown to ground. Oh kick ass. I think that just solved that issue then. Thanks! Any ideas on speedo output? Thinking of just putting it as a...

Doing some finalizing of wiring and realizing I'm running out of digital inputs lol. VAG ecus love to know what's going on with things like cruise, clutch and brake positions. Small update. Between being a single full time dad to two monsters and work being crazy, not a ton of progress has been made. Re: Hellen 121 ME7 for VAG PnP ECU

I would opt for the 2001 A4 pinout. Its pretty much the same thing but with VVT, traction control and WBO2. You can see the similarities with other engine codes so I assume those would be there anyway. Just thought it was worth mentioning. On a side note, the ecu sees the TC button IIRC, so you can ...

Re: Hellen 121 ME7 for VAG PnP ECU

What is a "blank?" Is that what it sounds like, a bare PCB? Yep. They fabricate min 5 PCB but assembly min is 2. Which means that for prototypes you end up with three souvenirs. "Test" would mean "you get a totally untested PCB and you have to decide what to do with it"...
