Re: analog inputs: op-amp + divider - Russian
Am I correct in saying that the use of optoisolators driving the injectors, and op-aps on the inputs becomes less of a concern, if you aren't trying to actually *read* high-voltage signals on a digital input or ADC? I've got no plans to connect the 12v side of the injectors ( which has noisy high-vo...

Re: a Subaru engine on the bench
to kb1gt: I have a 2002 Subaru Impresa "RV" 4WD, so yes it sounds similar to yours. it has no turbo ( that's the WRX model) , and it's otherwise pretty naked at this point ( radiator and hoses are present but not connected ), etc.

Re: a Subaru engine on the bench
I looked at that initially, but given the lack of wiring loom, I was put off going "stock", particularly as subi factory ECU's are known for needing all sorts of "faked sensor inputs" before they will adequately turn-over an engine. ( and the inputs they need change with each new...

Re: analog inputs: op-amp + divider - Russian
Historically the main reason was yes high impedance and using it parallel to the stock ECU. Also amplifying to make sure the ADC is charged. The 'parallel to stock ECU' phase is mostly over, but we would still need a voltage divider on most circuits - unfortunately stm32 adc is 3.3 volts :( .. Actu...

Re: analog inputs: op-amp + divider - Russian
Is there any particularly strong reason you are using an op-amp on each input channel? I'm looking at all those, and just thinking I could do away with them, and most of the the associated circuitry ( like all those doides too). I was thinking, that if you want a high-impedance input ( so any attach...

a Subaru engine on the bench
I have a working Subaru Impresa, but I also have a bench-mounted Impresa engine, that I'd like to be able to "run up", for demo/s and students, etc. It has no wiring, no loom, no ECU, no gearbox, no flywheel, no starter, etc. I will be mounting a flywheel and starter, and looking for the c...

Re: RTOS options
http://nuttx.org/ is used as the Underlying OS and HAL in the ( fuly open source) http://ardupilot.com/. The latest two commercial hardware releases ( called "px4" and "pixhawk") both use a stm32f4 ( https://pixhawk.ethz.ch/px4/en/start ). I'm one of the (lesser) software devs me...
