Andrey, The stock 1999 MX5 coils are triggered by +12v. As far as I know all 89 to 2006 cars (and possibly later?) were like this. http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=354300

Re: Plan B: hack OEM ecu

This sounds really interesting. However I imagine even if a Honda solution were to be worked out it would still be pretty tough to port it to a different ecu type. Way above my skill level :D An alternative (less $) approach would be to use a parallel processor and modify the crank and injector sign...

Re: Mazda MX5 1.8 1999 AE

As can be heard in the video the exhaust is currently open. My plan is to install a larger turbo and finish the exhaust before continuing with ecu testing. Hopefully by next week it will be ready. I compared the stock ecu start data to the console start data. I used an Saleae type analyzer to grab d...

Re: universal ECU connector?

Puff, I have connected similar pins using regular auto wire connectors. The connections are strong, typically as good or better than the original ones. Once the loom gets taped together and secured in position it performs like a plug. If you need the opposite type connection then it should be possib...

Some progress. I downloaded the source and tools needed to compile resefi.hex and updated the relevant mx5 configuration file to reflect my i/o assignment. Good question :)
Most of the wiring is done and I am currently testing the i/o. Hopefully I will crank the car in the next few days to verify the crank and cam signals. I am unsure of how the immobilizer circuit works so hopefully this will not cause problems.

Re: Alternator control

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. It sounds like in time a good solution will be implemented for rusEFI. For now I will probably go with using an aftermarket alternator regulator. Alternator control

On many cars including my 99 mx5 the alternator charge circuit is controlled by the ecu. Usually the circuit is disabled at low rpm so as not to charge during cranking. The stock alternator control works at around 14.5 V. Some people have developed hardware boards that specifically handle this featu...

the problem is response rate of 02 sensors is not that good, so building these initial baseline tables could be quite tricky. Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?

How do you calculate fuel based on throttle position? You do not calculate it - you look it up in a magic table. I wonder if the same works for engine vacuum. The desired outcome of a fuel control scheme is to maintain specific AFR's for various engine loads. I think the process of setting up table...

Good link, very informative. I read through it a couple of times before and got the gist of why ovp mosfets are more suitable than snubbers.
