Andrey,
I was able to talk with my assembly programming guru. He found my problem right away, a stupid newbie mistake using the wrong addressing mode. I'm plodding along again, thanks for your input.

Re: Tuner Studio for custom application
Hi Andrey, Thanks for your response. Since I wrote last I've done some more digging and found out that TS has a communications log file. I did some experimenting with that and, according to the file, TS is indeed sending the appropriate multibyte command. That tells me that the problem is in the way...

Re: Tuner Studio for custom application
Hi Andrey, Thanks for getting back to me, hope your racing went well. I am trying the multibyte "pageValueWrite" Command because it is a simple command. No joy. I tried adding a "pageChunkWrite" at your suggestion. Still no joy. Just to re-cap what I'm doing: When I first connect...

Re: Tuner Studio for custom application
Hi Jared, Reverse engineering a non open system certainly is difficult, especially for an amateur, but I soldier on. As far as I know Fred does not, and has not used TS. LibreEMS uses the same processor that I do, but I'm pretty sure they use Megatunix and I know nothing about Linux. I have contacte...

Tuner Studio for custom application
I realize that this is not directly connected with RusEFI, but Andrey has made considerable progress in working with TS and I'm hoping that he or others may be able to lend me a hand. I'm working on my own simple controller using the Freescale MC9S12XEP100 (same as MS3) and coded in assembler (becau...

Re: Crankshaft postion Sensors: VR or Hall?
Just an update on my research. So far it looks like VR can produce be made to produce an accurate signal that occurs mid point of the tooth that is crossing the face of the sensor. That's the good news. The bad news is that it needs very good zero crossing hardware to do this, the trigger wheel must...

Re: Crankshaft postion Sensors: VR or Hall?
I don't think cost is an issue. Digikey offers a 1GT101DC for $Cdn 88.69. Diy Autotune offers a 1GT101DC (or perhaps a clone) for ~$Cdn 42.00. CY Sensors offers what looks like a 1GT101DC clone for ~$Cdn 19.40. I didn’t have much success finding new aftermarket VR sensors but Digikey has nothing les...

Crankshaft postion Sensors: VR or Hall?
I can understand the use of VR for crankshaft position sensing if you are trying to use an existing sytem, but for a new install, such as carb to EFI conversion, wouldn't hall be a better choice? I've been doing a lot of research on this lately and I am becoming more curious all the time as to why V...

Re: Ignition modules
How about this?
The MCU drives a transistor on the main board such as this:
http://www.diodes.com/datasheets/ZTX450.pdf
Which drives a device on a remote board like this:
http://www.fairchildsemi.com/datasheets/IS/ISL9V3040D_F085.pdf
Too simple?

Possibly. All I can tell you is that what I've got works well for me.Nobody wrote:Be careful of long vacuum reference lines and restrictors - they can introduce tip in knock. Or on fast throttle transients MAP is playing catchup.

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?
I have to agree with the approach to keep it simple at first, add complexity only if required. On my engines, the system I use is very basic. MAP is sampled once every 8 milliseconds. There is no attempt to synchronize it with any particular crankshaft position. There is no averaging of readings. Th...

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?
I had a look at the data sheets for the MPX4250 that I have been using and it states a response time of 1.0ms as well so it looks to me like there is not much point in sampling any faster than that. I did some more digging and the consensus seems to be that if MAP is sampled at a specific crank angl...

How fast can you take them?
What MAP sensor are you using?
How fast can that sensor respond to changes?

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?
Russian, I have used SD with both a Haltech E6K and my current Megasquirt controllers. Both handle it in a similar fashion and both work very well for relatively stock multi cylinder engines. The difficulty arises when you have manifold pressure that is abnormally high at low speed low load on engin...

Yep. Constant flow, then it just stops.
I'll try the latest firmware.
EDIT
Sorry to report, with latest pre-compiled binaries. Still no gauges other than MAP. Program still locks.

Re: 1995 Ford E-150
Nope. No red LED on lock up. When running the blue flashes and green is steady until ~550 RPM at which time green flashes as well. On lock up the blue and/or green may or may not go out.
No error message on HT or Putty.
The lock up doesn't seem to be RPM related.

Re: 1995 Ford E-150
I have good news, and I have bad news with the latest binary.
The good news is that I get a MAP signal. I also get an RPM signal, for a while. I get no signals for TPS, IAT, CLT or O2. The program will run for about 30 seconds or so, then locks up. A reset will allow a re start, but it locks again.

Re: 1995 Ford E-150
I have things running on my 5V power supply now, so far so good except for the lock up thing. Also, when I change the cranking fuel settings it seems to be OK as long as I am connected, but it is back to no fuel on crank on re-start. Do the changes not get burnt into memory when I make a change?

Re: 1995 Ford E-150
Correct. I do need MAP. I suppose I could re-tune for Alpha -N, but it would be a step backwards.
"SVN Update" worked but it gave me a warning that "one or more files are in a conflicted state".
"clean_build.bat seemed to work.
Where do I find the defines to change?

Re: 1995 Ford E-150
Good news! With the zombie firmware, Discovery plugged into the analog board and output board, with input from my simulator, I have accurate RPM from my minimum of ~121 RPM to maximum of ~29,000 RPM. For this engine I almost never exceed ~3500 RPM. As the revs climb, the RPM read out gets jumpier. I...

Thanks for the update.
I still have the problem with PA5 though. I'm hoping that Andrey can assign a new pin to see if I can recover PIP. I don't want to try a new board until I've exhausted all possibilities on this one.
