Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?

I have to agree with the approach to keep it simple at first, add complexity only if required. On my engines, the system I use is very basic. MAP is sampled once every 8 milliseconds. There is no attempt to synchronize it with any particular crankshaft position. There is no averaging of readings. T...

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?

I think we are saying nearly the same thing. We agree there are better algo's for predicting how much O2 there is in the cyl. The difference is that I'm encouraging a get'er done approach, with enhancement options down the road. I understand that OEM MAF is designed to have a "linear" reg...

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?

OEM's often have those extra cavities to muffle the pulses. This quiet's the motor as well it dampens the signal seen by the up stream sensor, removing much of the pulse. A MAP that is really close to the intake is not so fortunate. These pressure pulses are one of many reasons why the min is often...

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?

Keep in mind that some modern engines have pseudo Atkinson cycle, such as Mazda Skyactiv in which they claim 14:1 CR. In most cases they are bleeding off compression ratio by closing inlet valve late, so some air is returned back to intake manifold, effectively creating 2+ higher pressure pulses (re...

Re: MAP but not SD as intermediate solution?

What optimum sampling method is, will depend on many variables even intake manifold design. Most current intakes have runners tuned for ~3rd order resonance and large plenum volumes. Large plenum volumes dampen pressure variations. Not sure why older Japanese engines has such wimpy plenum volumes? A...

If you put “Engineering Sample”, “Evaluation” or “Educational” and assigned value of $50-75, most countries will let it go through.

Also electronic components are exempt from duties in most countries, just have to know classification.

Re: Maybe new rusefi target? TMS570

First I realize that AEC Q100 is not limited to temperature and guarantied performance across the board, but regrettably that is the focus here (rusEFI), and memory error detection, latch-up resistance, safety considerations… don’t get factored in. As far as ISO certification, I’m currently living i...

You sure have the knowledge to show the right direction, but do you have time to implement the right ideas? Yes stm32f4+ChibiOS is not the perfect platform. It provides most, if not all the functions some of the Freescale and ST processors provide. And the cost of the LP board ($20 USD) and software tools (free) is hard to beat. Why no pull-up for TPS on the schematics? http://i.imgur.com/CM5xWgg.png A guy from AVR freaks makes a fair point that with floating input we would not be able to detect TPS disconnect - see http://www.avrfreaks.net/index.php?p=1180690#1180690 He is also insisting on software signal filtering for T...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

Did you check all your grounds? Are they connected to a common point? Is wire gauge on new ECU sufficient? I am using the stock harness as is, I did not check anything on the car other then unplug stock ECU and plug my ECU. There are at least five GND wires coming into the ECU - x2 power GND, x1 lo...

About ASM programming, might you have interest in the ETPU for this SPC56x series of chip? It doesn't have an easy to obtain compiler, so it's programmed via ASM. http://www.st.com/web/en/catalog/tools/PF259195 Using it is on the long term goals, for a variety of reasons. The compiler has been a si...

This is a back to basics kind of question. Did you check all your grounds? Are they connected to a common point? Are the engines ground strap(s) OK? Is wire gauge on new ECU sufficient? When strange electrical issues hit, that is first place I look at. On an engine swap out I forgot head ground stra...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

How is it wired and anything going to ECU? It is very likely a PWM to control shift pressure and that's it's base frequency. The other output is for torque converter lockup, that is usually ECU driven in light load situations. If your having problems that are derived from TCM sitting idle, then well...

By putting a capacitor in series with digital output it will become a AC square wave if toggled at a reasonable frequency. This is how single supply cheepo audio amplifiers work, cap in series to speaker +.

Are you using MAX232 to simulate VR output? If you need 0 crossing you can just put capacitor in series, that may work.

Yes you need caps, it's for charge pump circuit.

Yes I noticed noise in capture too.

Given the CPU likely consumes less than 100ma wonder if switcher does not have enough load to be stable? I've seen this too many times. Maybe a add parasitic load and see if it improves.

Re: 1995 Honda Accord - auto, vtec

Given the year, it likely has engine bay fuel pressure regulator. If it does, pull off vacuum reference line and check for fuel, if any is present then diaphragm is torn (try this after cranking). Long cranks can often be fuel pressure related.
