Re: Miata NA 1996, 1.8L stock (#7)

Today was busy, but I tried it again tonight. I updated firmware to today's version. Switched back the flippin' trigger sensor settings. And cranked it a fairly long time and SUCCESS! It started with some coaxing and ran for a few minutes collecting logs with java console. It runs fairly smooth exce...

i would like to suggest to enable flipping of trigger inputs. A proper solution would be automatically saying "dude your signals are INVERTED?!" How about: s-l400.jpg Ok, I flipped the signals in TS and it looks a little better. I get a few puffs and another error: WARNING: sync error: in...

Re: Miata NA 1996, 1.8L stock (#7)

Hello, I'm trying to get this going again after a few years break. It's the same car, same Frankenstein board, new Discovery board, new firmware as of 3/3/20 and new console. Everything else should be the same, engine_type 21. I tried cranking and didn't get any puffs. Tried warming up on stock ecu ...

Hi Thommm, good to hear from you. I'm looking at options on turbos, but I have gotten busy with work and things. I'll put this on hold and keep this car as is for now. The nice thing about the early Miata's is that emissions inspections are not required on cars over 25 years old in Texas, https://ww...

Could you post your last tune please? Or are there no changes from the previously posted version? How did the last drive feel? Any hesitation, especially under acceleration at low rpms? Driving feels pretty good now. It took a while to get it back to a good state after recalibrating sensors and upd...

Beware fuel economy attempts. It is common that fuel is used to cool your cyl. Running lean can lean can cause heat build up issues, which can lead to catastrophic failures. Thanks for the word of caution. I was keeping an eye on AFR driving, and taking action if it got much over 16. Here is my AFR...

I completed another long trip over the weekend driving about 1000 miles total, and I saw no problems with the firmware this time!! This is with Feb. 18 firmware, revD discovery, and no closed loop fuel enabled. I was trying to tweak the tune for better fuel economy and got it up to 29mpg. That is a ...

Logging profiles is the answer. Duh! Actually I think it's my fault. I suspect we are looking at a SD card log. SD card logs do not have debug fields :( https://sourceforge.net/p/rusefi/tickets/355/ Yes, these are sdcard logs. You mean the java console will log the fields now? I can do a short run ...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

Sensors are calibrated now, and tune is fairly stable running Feb. 15 firmware on revD Discovery.

But I still get lots of warnings, like about 460 per second. Looks like all are TPS too high or too low.
Any idea what's going on there?

Let's start by changing multiplier to 2.0 I've actually realized maybe only sensors would need to be re-calibrated but maps would stay the same. Ok. I changed the multiplier to 2.0 and I'm reworking the settings using the RevD Discovery board. Now I see why it was so hard to get my CLT and IAT to m...

Re: Standardizing the Miata NA1.6 configuration

What's the resistor on input 5 and 6 about? Looks to be a pull down, perhaps we could install the SMT resistors for this instead of the one you installed. Is that something you expect would be required for other applications? Input 5 should have a 500k to ground on this for if the wire breaks. Perh...

A bunch of the above makes sense to me. However I have some questions. On the back I see some yellow wires for the LCD. The 2.5 Analog divider (coef) came from the tune I started with from @thommm's smurf tune. Problem is actual hardware is a 2.0 analog divider. And changing this value would throw everything off. But using the real divider is probably the right thing to do? But it would throw all you sensor calibrat...

Q4: is check engine low-side or high-side on NA6? W5 - W6 add jumper check engine light (not connected yet) PC9 probably would not work since PC9 is paired with PC7 which needs to be +5 to drive coils, and the bulb is probably 12v? Standardizing the Miata NA1.6 configuration

I would like to propose that we define standard configuration for the '90 to '93 Miata engine type 41 (and any other popular config's that are getting good momentum) and work toward stabilizing firmware releases for those. The NA1.8 Miata 94 to 97 is similar but different enough tti count as separat...
