Re: 1994 USDM Mazda Miata #11

Hi!

I've been a little out of touch. Hopefully i will be able to play with the board in the car some time this weekend. In the process of moving so free time is at a premium.

Very exited to see the new improvements!

Ok, progress. Conformed fsio with a/c is working, as you said needs to be reset after assigning the pin. Persistent configuration struct. Re: 1994 USDM Mazda Miata #11

Ok, update time. This weekend i carved out some time to play with rusefi. Bit of a frustrating weekend but some progress was made. What works: VE Analize: Works awesomely, got a tune that i can drive around. Soooo close to me being able to daily this! What don't work: A/C - Cannot get fsio to work, ...

Re: 1994 USDM Mazda Miata #11

I have a simple 1.8 L honest engine, no cheats :D , no vvt (variable valve timing, rotates the intake camshaft to retard or advance the intake timing) and no vics (variable manifold cavity size to help with resonance). I might upgrade to a VVT head, they drop right in. Maybe someday.... Re: Tube len...

Re: 1994 USDM Mazda Miata #11

Another update: - MAP sensore is wired in the car. Burned the 3 bar one i had and had to go to the store and get a 1 bar (yay better resolution!). Don't put 5 volts into the Vout line of a GM style MAP sensor, it will ruin it. Ask me how i know :x - VE auto tune in ts does not work atm. It leans the...

Ok some updates. AFR Sensor: - I have an Innovate LC-2, the output was either 0v or 5v. It would work right after turning on the engine and it would freak out as the engine warmed up. Re-calibrated the sensor and the problem went away. MAF: - The MAF curve I calculated is wrong. Runs way to lean wil...

Yeah, it didn't feel like it was using any accel enrichment. It did feel tighter than just the using the fuel map though (which is to be expected). PS: at the moment the guy with most miles on his rusEfi has like three times the width of your island! you would have to drive in circles :) This is awe...

Awesome,

Mine requires about 10% more. I wonder if it's because of the temperature difference.

Are you running the solenoid frequency at 500? Wonder if that would have to do with variation.

Re: Miata NA 1996, 1.8L stock (#7)

Hi tomiata, good to have another miata running the board!

The code for set_idle_pwm was changed to make more sense at some point. Now it takes a value between 0-100 and it will ignore out of bounds values.
I found that 40 makes mi car idle at around 1200, 35 is more like stock.

Re: MAF transfer function from injectior duty and AFM.

What's the expected kG/Hr at idle, and at full RPM? AKA what at the expected min and max you'll see on that chart? Those numbers are going to depend on the VE of the engine at that RPM and load value. I did a comparasion on this in this post http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=825&start=10#...

Ok, update. Progress - Run the function all the way to 5 volts. - Scaled from o2 mass to air mass (what the MAF actually sees). Errors be here. - Script now generates c code for pasting into a maf transfer function for the firmware. Remaining - Validation using known MAF logs. - Test this sucker on ...

Ok, more progress. - I modified the program to feed on many logs so I can fill in the blanks of the parts i'm missing. - I added a curve fitting function that exports the transfer function into a csv. - Documented and cleaned the code enough to be able to publish it. What remains to be done. - Extra...

Re: MAF transfer function from injectior duty and AFM.

Ok, here is a data set I collected back in December. It's across a wider RPM range.

There are two filters applied. Green is AFR's between 14.4 and 15
Red is AFR's between 0 and 9.

I have to get a similar data-set at an even wider range to get a healthy curve.

Ok, 1st hack, this is what I have to show for it. Next up is getting cleaner data at a wider and more dense RPM range. Also, Habemus data! I ran the car at 3 rpm points, tuned to 14.5 AFR and ran if for a few seconds. Should be enough to get an idea if the approach works. Back on topic.... Point being you can't assume the values you might get on a test bench will transfer directly to, and be immediately applicable to your vehicle unless that test bench has your entire intake tract in place EXACTLY as it sits in your vehicle. Yes and no ;) Yes I agree that testing in...

Re: MAF transfer function from injectior duty and AFM.

I am surprised no one has put that Miata MAF on an air flow bench - do not tuners use these and have these devices? If tuners use and have air flow benches that's what we need. Maybe the data is somewhere maybe it's worth asking a question on the Miata forums? Yeah, I've searched and asked, everybo...

Thanks for the input. Does that apply to both types of MAF sensors... frequency and current? Do you have any publis...

Re: MAF transfer function from injectior duty and AFM.

Ok, I can read this statement two ways: - Just swap the MAF. Tickles my OCD the wrong way. No worky, not reliably anyways. MAF's are very sensitive to intake changes (the reason most tuners just go to SD and ditch the intake). Having mismatched diameters (miata maf's have two different diameters on ...
