Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

Back from the dead I see. What's the news with this situation? SCT is now mandating training to use the software, and SET is the only other company that offer tuning support for the JTEC Rams. Last year I started to convert my 97 SS/T to GM OBD1, and using a Northstar ignition. Project stalled withi...

Also, throw that Haynes manual in the trash where it belongs. Grab the FSM instead...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

For the injectors, they should be 21 lb/hr for that year, but the best way to find out is to take a look at the manufacturer number on the top part of the injector. IIRC its a bosch pintle EV1 style injector, look the numbers up with the stan Weiss injector chart.... http://www.users.interport.net/s...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

Another really neat thing to integrate would be two step launch control. And yeah with what Jared said, that's where fully sequential ignition would be nice, with knock protection. That could probably be accomplished by holding the EST signal high, and alternating the sequence to involve all the cy...

Re: hip9011 integration

Separate question: real-life testing. At some point I would probably want to get knock on my test mule Neon (cylinder bore: 87.5mm) so that I can verify that rusEfi in fact detects it. Question: how do I do that? :) Separate question: for plan-B, would 16022621 or 16052401 or LXE6 or LXE7 or LXE9 w...

Re: hip9011 integration

there is an opinion that having knock detection react to RPM change and be aware of current shaft angle could or should improve the efficiency, There is hope that we are pretty close, but life is a bit in the way Not sure what you meant by this? What is "shaft angle?" There are two method...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

I posted a couple of links earlier in the thread pertaining to volts vs. pressure. It's not about a gauge reading to determine differences in barometric pressure, the corrections are based on elevation. In the aircraft I fly the same applies, there needs to be correction, otherwise the fueling is wa...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

Hijacked? If so, should a new thread be started for calibration discussion? For reference: http://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-prom/256564-baro-da-calculations-730-a.html An initial baro read will need to be accomplished for the BPC. A pseudo read for running correction. *edit* The VE multiplier is a...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

For simplicity the dizzy/cam sensor combo could be left alone, and can light off enough spark to surpass the limits of the OEM rotating assembly. Baby steps. If the desire for a CnP or CoP system arises, an interface could be built. A lot of people also go for the ford EDIS-8 system as well, with un...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

Someone has been working on building a stand alone controller, but the thread is a dead-end, much like all the other stuff I have found in the past. The good part is, the MS code is open source AFAIK, and the parameters seem to offer a good base. My knowledge is severely limited for assembling board...

Re: 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 V8 (#15)

the MAP is generally linear AFAIK, but the scaling is standard for every calibration I ever looked at.. The MAP on these trucks is a standard 0-5V 1 bar sensor, I think earlier OBD1 Chrysler engines used a standard GM MAP. Keep in mind the initial baro read and pseudo baro read to set the baro scale...
