Re: universal ECU connector?
The Cinch enclosure requires a special tool to open. Using a small flat screw driver tends to destroy the PCB connector or the enclosure. I guess that's OK for a production device, but less friendly to a DIY kind of thing where people are likely to open the device multiple times. it's not trivial e...

Commercial STM32 Engine control systems
I've been dealing w/a product from this company, and just realized they have a few STM32 driven products. They're not full blown ECU's I don't think, but more like 2ndary controllers. Or perhaps may be used to drive a simple stationary engine for power generation. What caught my eye is that they're ...

Re: universal ECU connector?
I just realized, we're discussing pull force at the crimp, but are willing to compromise by soldering a pigtail to a length of wire. Now I don't doubt the pull strength of a good solder joint, but fatigue should be just a big an issue. If that is the case, then wouldn't it make sense to crimp+solder...

Re: let's choose an enclosure
I believe russian found a nissan enclosure/connector on taobao? Plenty of sentras were made to harvest a pigtail from.
Honda enclosure/connector and use the prefabbed alibaba pigtail (25$ or so, not fully populated, but 50+ pins)

I recently got to learn that Matenlok connectors have a splash proof option. See datasheet found here http://www.te.com/commerce/DocumentDelivery/DDEController?Action=showdoc&DocId=Specification+Or+Standard%7F114-13089%7FC%7Fpdf%7FEnglish%7FENG_SS_114-13089_C.pdf%7FN-A Basic overview found here...

Re: external ADC
why not expand the user base by making it CAN friendly? Supporting a product is a nightmare. I am wasting time on rusEfi mostly because I am bored. Marking a small expansion ADC 2 CAN board is just not my thing :( Too much hustle with logistics and user support and warranty etc. etc. etc. We have a...

Re: let's choose an enclosure
[quote="kb1gtt"]Can these enclosures be purchased with a pre-made harness cable? Something with several wires of a fixed length, similar to the below pigtail. [im aliexpress lists quite a few offerings in small quantities (alibaba has way more), it'd be a matter of discussing it w/the supp...

Frankenso includes a CAN option. It includes 5V, CANH, CANL and GND. The 5V can support around 1.5A to 2A, so it can provide a communications channel as well as a power channel. CAN has been used to control an OEM digital dash. That's needles (RPM, Tach, voltage, temp, ect) as well as digital signa...

Re: let's choose an enclosure
I'm a fan of the alibaba enclosures. I know they seem to be producing a ton of bosch/OEM hardware under license, so maybe if they have a denso clone you'd be set?

Re: external ADC
http://www.nxp.com/documents/data_sheet/LPC2109_2119_2129.pdf is a newer one and seems to tolerate 5 v "The ADC pads are 5 V tolerant when configured for digital I/O function(s)." Only in digital I/O mode, so looks like not a 5v ADC. Unless we find a magic chip with 5v ADC and CAN transce...

Re: universal ECU connector?
Yes that part, but with wires installed. Is that available such that I don't need to crimp a large pile of wires, and I don't need to purchase a crimp tool. AKA a $200 crimp tool doesn't make that a very cost effective connector for me in qty 1. I use this style of crimp tool: http://www.amazon.com...

Re: external ADC
the original focus was on 5v ADC so that the dividers are not required. The idea to use LPC11C00 as such an ADC would be beautiful but only if it would be a 5v chip - looks like it's not :( Honestly, I'm very green at this so just pasted the 1st one google spit out. Which turns out to be a relative...

Re: external ADC
Any chance we can have it transceived to CAN? Don't know if there's a chip that's both ADC and transceiver in a common package, but would make things compatible w/other systems if you wished to expand customer base. Obviously if you wished to not limit to one protocol and/or baud rate, an 'optional...
