Re: How to compile the firmware
It's been a while sense I looked to download it, but last I recall, the file you wanted was semi hidden, such that you typically got the wrong file instead of the actual free edition. If you ignore what your eyes come to first for the download, do you notice another file linked somewhere else on th...

Re: AEB 1.8T
Yup heat it up, smash the PCB against a tree such that the PCB goes flying into the woods and the connector stays in your hands :) This doesn't actually work this way, but you get the idea, and you end up with a low cost connector and enclosure. I wonder the length and width of that enclosure, and ...

Re: AEB 1.8T
I suggest getting something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/231618298692 just to destroy and it re-use the ECU connector with your own wires soldered to it. Exactly what I was thinking, nice and cheap! I'm still looking into exactly how the Ignition system works on my engine. I believe its referred to...

Re: AEB 1.8T
Looks like a good platform, it can be done. I think most of the real obstacles will be getting the wires connected. What are the goals? Some times people think they can make a poor engine run better if they can tune the EFI, but often the issue is that the engine needs repair. So I wonder what's th...

Re: AEB 1.8T
To get it idling for the first time you would not need MAF or MAP - you would just guess the amount of fuel needed. Narrow band o2 works for OEM because they know their engine, we do not so wide band o2 would probably be needed. We have another VW so the trigger shape is known (it's not the 'real' ...

Re: Hi all
Probably. Was that mechanical fuel injection? What are the pieces. Do you have Hall pickup, electronic fuel injectors, coil and distributor ignition? Everything except Mechanical Fuel Injection (I think..). I started a data thread to gather all the info! http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&am...

AEB 1.8T
My end goal is to get my 1999 Passat AEB 1.8T running rusEFI! Until then I'll collect all important data I can find and house it here to help anyone else. Also, this is a learning process for me! If you see I am lacking some important data let me know so i can go gather it! Engine Specs: Compression...

Re: Hi all
Welcome along. I've also been modifying a small engine, but haven't made much progress in recent years as I got a snow blower that now works. Any how, here is a page where I have documented the effort. http://jaredharvey.com/Files/projects/Engine_control/snow_blower/snow_blower.htm Good to hear fro...

Re: Hi all
Now I just have to get a small engine to fry.. Smallest so far is 72cc, but that's a lot of mechanical modifications to fit an injector etc. Get yourself a 3 cylinder something for a test mule, that would be fun! :) Agree'd! I seem to be having a slight issue with the simulator. I can only get the ...

Hi all
First let me say this project is absolutely brilliant! On the drive back from work/university I was pondering a good senior project (a ways away) and thought a custom ECU might be cool to look into. Can't say I will be much help yet or at all, but I'm really excited to play around with what you got ...
