Re: Discrete components VR decoder with zero firmware code
The drafted schematic has many issues. I'd also like if the diodes clamped to gnd instead of the +5 rail. In other similar circuits, I've seen that clamped energy self power the 5v and override the ability to shut off the 5v. So I typically either avoid that style of clamp or I add something like a ...

Re: Discrete components VR decoder with zero firmware code
Is phase shift a concern? I guess that would probably get compensated for during tuning.

Re: Discrete components VR decoder with zero firmware code
Jared says Still in early stages of noodling this over, but this might mostly work. I basically just split off the op-amps to have a virtual ground. I think this would likely allow for a 1 wire VR, connect VR+ to GND, then VR- would be the other VR wire. Granted in 1 wire mode, it would have a lowe...

Oops. I just updated the math. Thanks for the clarification. It's still significant heat to deal with.chaoschris wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 7:23 am@ kb1gtt : The resistors are in parallel, so the resistance is 0,33 Ohm...![]()

Re: S105 OEM ECU
0.3 ohm sense resistance @ 1 amp = 0.3 watts. Plus your normal switching loses from the transistor. I'd expect it needs good heat sinking, or good injector design. AKA injector would want to be large enough to keep the WOT duty low and lower ECU dissipated watts, but the injector would want to be sm...

Re: Common Rail MC33816/PT2001 dev board - 4 injectors GDI
I recall some concern about the transition time as well. AKA faster or slower devices may cause issues. I recall this concern was an unknown, so if you make a change I suggest to make low QTY order and test before committing to larger QTY.

A tip, if you put the security lug back on, put all of them on one wheel, like the rear passenger side. Then you mostly don't care about the stupid adapter.
Cool to see progress. Thanks Scott for the recent kick to get it moving along again.

Re: 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0 Turbo GDI test mule #64
In my scope capture, the vertical scale is questionable. I don't trust it because I didn't calibrate verify it first. It was a quick measure and seemed to be in the ball park. I think Matt's capture says 2 amps. The big thing is that I think a 4.5 amp driver will be ok.

Re: 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0 Turbo GDI test mule #64
In this post, I measured OEM in the hold pattern was about 4.5 amps. The yellow trace was 2amps per vertical division. So it would appear the hold voltage is below 12v.

Stackup can be found here.

From memory I think it was 1oz external and 0.5 oz internal.

Re: Common Rail MC33816/PT2001 dev board - 4 injectors GDI
Did we have some small change to the internal firmware? From memory I think there was a small change. Also from memory the current firmware would work on both. Something like if.serieal number blah then X instead of Y.
I think we expect them to be interchangeable.

Re: Rotary engine Rx8
I recall timing for both fuel and spark are a bit different then 2 stroke, but totally doable if it's detailed enough for developers to implement. I recall you could get it running with 2 stroke, but to get it to run well, it's expected that some timing changes would be needed. I recall that on prio...

Perhaps change the current sensor? It seems you just trying to sense the amps. See below video it details the use of a low cost board you can get on ebay.

If we integrate into scratch, we could potentially attract many kids they would work for free.
https://scratch.mit.edu/
Scratch is a fairly decent graphical / easy to use programming environment. It might not be that far fetch of an idea to use as a higher level programming environment.

Re: ECU high-level programming
Most OEMs have tools which allow then to specify high level stuff. They spec number of cyls, injector flow rates, etc. The tool then splices together the code they need to operate the engine. I recall Freescale has one that can be downloaded for free.

I would like to suggest using a real harness connector then make an adapter for db15 db37. Those db connectors have problems relative to automotive applications.
