Re: Connection problem with eBay board

i'm doing nothing else. it will run using the USB to the rusefi console. There is no need for a bootloader and im using new blank chips. Ahh, I was under the impression you needed the USB BL to talk to TS - I guess when you don't know anything you say the wrong thing -. So just load rus with the ST...

Re: Connection problem with eBay board

It must be the same bootloader as you are using to get native USB on your custom board because it's the same STM32F407VG chip on all the boards. Sorry for not looking into it - when you are old confusion is demotivating :? - but where did you get the bootloader from.

Thanks

Hey NickZ, did you get the little boards running.

And what bootloader did you use to flash it to get the USB working.

Re: Connection problem with eBay board

I was watching Blue Pill bootloader vids last week and it comes with the serial bootloader, and if you want to use the USB you need to load the USB bootloader first. I assume these board are the same. This is the old one. https://youtu.be/wGbiT6IxGP0 This is the updated one. https://youtu.be/Myon8H1...

Re: Connection problem with eBay board

The Discovery uses the VG STM32F407VG, so that chip should be more compatible - I don't know about ZE, but the VE has less memory -.

NickZ got his running.

Re: Connection problem with eBay board

I looked into a simpler version of this type of board a while back, but gave up because it looked too hard. Now you've made me interested again ;) I don't think I can help, but I watched some vids today and it looks like this might be shipped with the serial firmware, and to get the USB working you ...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case / official

The $6 chip from Ali is a VG and looks real - it should be a goer ;) -, but if you get the on-board STM32 working on the FK can you easily disable it and go back to the Discovery board.

Re: STM32F407VET6 Mini Development Board System Board

I used a ST-Link v2 to upload the firmware before being able to use the USB on pins PA11 and PA12. It's starting to get a bit clearer. as far as i can see the Supplied USB socket doesn't do anything. That's weird. Maybe it's because it doesn't have PA9 The usb won't work without the PA9 to VCC, I t...

Re: STM32F407VET6 Mini Development Board System Board

I should've known NickZ would've been ahead of the game. :D Looking at the VG Dev board SCH it says the USB is connected to PA12, PA11, but PA9 to VCC I don't know about. F-ken is PA9 to VBUS, so it must be a thing. These things would make great baby Fsteins. Like make a shield the same size for 1-2...

I'm not good at that stuff, and I don't have a board, but I might do some reading tomorrow.
Does the writing and font on the chip look like this genuine chip. Does the indent top right have that broken centre.

From the above it sounds like it's being programmed, but you never know. Does it run a simple blink sketch. I'm not much help because I've only DFU-ed one MEGA2560 once. Clutching at straws here. Is there anyway to get a memory report out of it, ie, is it really a VG. I've got a VG chip on the...

Are you sure about the 28MHz crystal. I found this dwg, if this is the correct one, and there is a 2 in front of the 8M. But that looks like pin 2 of the crystal. http://dubstylee.net/v/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/DIY-More-STM32F407VGT6.png It's from this post. https://community.st.com/s/question/0D5...

Re: STM32F407VET6 Mini Development Board System Board

Any word if the black Mini STM32F407VGT6 Development Board with the larger VG chip would work if you make an adaptor to the Frank's. I was thinking about getting another Disc but at $41 for the cheapest down here, that ain't going to happen. The VG Mini is about $15 down here. The VE Mini would be a...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case / official

That last vid took a bit of time. I don't know how well Frankenso kits sell, but after making one it seems a bit too much trouble. You're kind-of better off just paying the small amount extra for the pre-assembled FK, but what would be better is a PnP FK for the different car models. The problem is ...

You legend. :D I thought it was something simple like a selectable jumper, but I couldn't see one in the pic. I'm feeding the FK with 12V, and I'm getting 5V at the reg, but the other 5V points on the PCB are only getting 0.4V. Are there any links that have to be made to get the 5V to the internal PWR plane.

Not that I know anything about it, but does it have a variable ratio activation table, ie, 0-50% on the pedal is 1:1, but 50-100 is 4:1. I know it was common in Supercars, but they did it mechanically with changing rate pulleys. I don't even know about the sensors or actuators, but is there a mech r...

I was just thinking that the pad is 1.4mm, and a 1206 is 1.5mm, so I thought it would be wise to link them to the 0.070" pins on the Denso connector. If it does 2 High-Z with a single 0805 it's probably not necessary. 8-)

I found C103(10uF) on page 8 of the SCH PDF, and it kind-of looks necessary in filtering the input 5V to the MAX9926. Luckily I have one here already.

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case / official

When you get the Frankenso pre made, can you see red dots of glue under the 0805s on the underside. I hear that 0603 and smaller will stay on the underside without glue with a 2 oven process - oven solder bottom side parts and re oven for the top side parts -, due to the solder surface tension, but ...

If it's that 6 pin header row in the middle of the Frankenso, it's going to have to be a robust 3D print to clamp 80mm away on it's own. One of those cheap plastic clamps in my video with more reach would make it easier. https://rusefi.com/images/Frankenso/frankenso_0_5_assembled_as_recieved_front.j...

Yeah I've only seen bad 3D prints when they were done wrong, like the high temp filaments, ie: ABS etc, delaminate if not done in an enclosed printer that can keep it hot. I'm not really sure what configuration you want, but I was thinking of just pushing the pins into the female IDC connector of th...

Seams like they do make a 0.5mm pogo, so I suppose you could just slide it in a female header if that is what is on the programmer. Other wise it's a PCB breakout with pogo on one end and the IDE connector on the other. 0.5mm and 0.68mm pogos. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100-Pcs-Spring-Test-Probe-Po...
