Re: Looking for a solution for the Subaru EG33

I'm bored at work and currently playing around with TunerStudio and the discovery board.

Why do I get the error "Burn page 0 failed"? whenever I make a change and hit "Burn" in Tunerstudio.

Re: Looking for a solution for the Subaru EG33

More stuff and things happened today.

At some point maybe I could help with editing the instructions on software setup located in the wiki.
Currently they are a little confusing and some of the screenshots could use an update.

But they were good enough for me :)

Current status update.
Still need to order some more parts. But it lights up and I haven't lost any magic smoke.

Re: stm32f4 MPU module LQFP 100

The size is ok but the font is not crisp. There are many misprints (portions of characters missing).

I'd have to compare it to an inkjet printer running low on ink and having some clogged nozzles.

Re: stm32f4 MPU module LQFP 100

As long as the silkscreening is legible any color is fine.
The silkscreening on the frankenso 0.4 board isnt the easiest to read.

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

argh. my bad! I thought it was 0805. Soldering 1206 instead of 0805 is a pain, at least on Frankenstein and at least for certain 1206s with smaller (narrower?) connectors. Ok i thought as much. Well i sure hope that was the right one. Its listed as such in the Frankenso 0.4 BOM but i just looked at the spec sheet and its a 1206 package.
Perhaps kb1gtt can comment.

Isn't this a symbol for electrolytic capacitor?
I noticed the same thing.
In addition C354 and C358 are electrolytic in the schematic.

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

Did the poking. You need a 10uf. Once i am home on Saturday I want to go over the 0805 bags I have an make the official list of what is there. If that kit is not right maybe I need to start choosing a 0805 bag better. Thanks for checking into it. I'm sorry to say the kit is also lacking any 4.7uf c...

I pulled a 10uf cap off another board I had laying around.

None. 1uf is the highest value included.

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

I seem to recall that 10k is a fairly generic value from the datasheet. I used 2x 5k resistors to get an increased stand off voltage. The 10k is primarily to prevent over current of the rail clamping diodes, as the sensor will typically see more than 5V and can go below 0V. I would agree that 4.7k ...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

Thanks again. Onto the next one. C103 shows 10uf in the schematic but I dont think thats right. Its located in the cam and crank input area. Just noticed its referenced in the component options page as well. Maybe im wrong. Its just that it wasnt included in the kit and 10uf seems high for an smd cap.

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

Alright next minor issue.
The resistors on the cam and crank inputs are 5k but the kit came with 4.7k or 5.6k resistors.

Is this another case where substitution is ok?

R102-R104 and R106-R112 are the resistors in question.

Alright. Need a little assistance. I've got some diode issues. First is where does D1 go? Went through the schematic and can't find it referenced. Second issue. There was an extra diode in the bag containing the double schottkey diodes. The diode appears to have D96E8 on it. I've attached pics for r...
