Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
If I understand the datasheet correctly, it requires minimum of 10mA of Ib and it should be in range of 10-23mA. If I put 150 Ohm resistor to P604, and keep the 100 Ohm resistors like they are now, I'm getting 20mA of Ib drive (5V / 250 Ohm = 20mA), which should be enough. So based on this soldering...

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
Hmmm, this module wants 20mA drive, and 33 ohms drive to GND. I think that instead of using a wire to make the hi/lo driver to 5V, you want that wire to be a 150ohm resistor. So if we assume your using P608, you want 150 ohms for the jumper that selects your drive voltage. Then you want a R601 or R...

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
Moving to ignition wiring, we are using Bosch 0 227 100 203 I'm 3.2 ignition amplifier's two channels for driving our Sagem wasted spark coil pack. Connecting the amp gnd to power earth (EFI GND connects to this), and 5V high drivers to base pins of transistors, do I need to connect gnd_output to gn...

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
This VVT solenoid is of on/off type with current draw of 1.4A when active. I see that low channels are named with 1A so I'm bit uncertain if I really can draw that much current through low driver. Slowness is of course relative, but VVT cam action itself is quite slow as when VVT solenoid activates ...

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
So, I´ve seen 1N4007 around in few forum posts, schematic just shows Schottky diode so I'm just making sure of diode intended as fly-back.
I'll add flyback for VVT to start with as that is pretty slow activated and will cause current spike when released.

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
So question about fly-back diodes. When do I need them and which part should I use / acquire? I know I need one for VVT, unless I put dioded relay or fly-back in between, but what about rest? Injectors (high impedance), main and fuel relays (I think these can spike when released on shutdown) Just go...

I see a baud of 38400 noted at the below wiki. I'm not sure about parity, stop bits, etc. https://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php?title=Manual:Software:TunerStudio_connectivity You are correct, with 38400 I can connect with putty and received 14648 105 1 ts_p_alive And TunerStudio also works of course now!

I'm currently confused by TTL USB port on frankenso, plugging Mini-USB wire on it fires up COM3 on my computer but connecting to that with terminal doesn't give anything sensible log output (some randomish 5 char output is given in tunerstudio miniterminal and putty). On STM32F4 the green and red le...

This is one option, should could be simple to wire in: http://www.efi-parts.co.uk/index.php?productID=121
We need to go through our junkyard first though, my friend said we have some 3-channel Bosch unit laying around somewhere in the shelf and free option is always the best option in this sport

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
Good point about the ignitors, I was almost sure clio would have built-in ignitors in coil pack, but further googling about Sagem coil pack and aftermarket ecus, it seems that in stock form the Sirius 34 handles the coil charging. We are probably swapping out to new coil pack with built-in ignitors ...

Re: Clio Mk2 172 Ph1 Race Car
Thanks for the ground wiring information! I'm bit rusty at reading schematics but slowly getting there. What about spark, F4R / Sirius 34 seems to use ground switching to Sagem Igniter with two banks. Image on Frankenso page seems to refer to older version about configuring the hi/low output. I unde...

Re: Dual Fuel Maps and VVT
At least from my experience working with Honda VTEC, I always got huge jumps in torque activating VTEC and hence I'm expecting similar to happen when VVT is activated (or rather deactivated as it loses oil pressure and turns the intake to later angle increasing overlap in this case). Though with VT...

Re: Dual Fuel Maps and VVT
I'm going to question the whole premise of this idea. The underlying assumption is that we're switching VVT to maximize torque and VE, not to optimize fuel consumption in some area of operating conditions and torque in others. The usual way of tuning VVT is to record a torque curve with it on and a...

Re: Dual Fuel Maps and VVT
I don't really need interpolation between two maps, but two actual fuel maps, one with VVT on, one with VVT off, so that when I set VVT on via FSIO, I can also swap to secondary fuel map at the same moment. When done this way, you can configure both maps separately and then afterwards change the VVT...

Dual Fuel Maps and VVT
We are planning on using FSIO for controlling on/off type modified VVT on Renault F4R engine. This sets us for another problem however, because we are turning VVT in 4000rpm range instead of just bit over 1500rpm like it is now on stock solution, engine characteristics change so much that setting up...

Re: Hybrid injection strategy
Advantage with batch firing is of course half the events required to schedule, which could be issue with high RPMs, unless you fire the batch injectors each TDC (useful on low load if sequential isn't available, but double dead time then applies) Though firing on 1 and 2 intake TDCs would probably c...

In addition, if individual cylinder trim is desired, we could still start injection batched but have separate close times per cylinders.

Hybrid injection strategy
I believe some commercial ecus switch from sequential to batch injection on higher RPMs to give them more time to finish injection, allowing smaller injectors and less accuracy with ECU. Because there are little advantages from sequential injection over 4000rpm, I think this could be a nice option f...

Re: Engine control Logic - enginelab example
I meant from the point of integration testing it would be a nice way of developing ecu if rusefi running on actual firmware could be ran against good software emulating sensors based on injection and ignition.
That would allow us to estimate effects of jitter to afr, ect and cylinder pressure?

Re: Engine control Logic - enginelab example
So.. we could connect brain board to this using the usb drivers provided if we can emulate the AEM/EL protocol and then develop the ECU without having it bolted on engine all the time you want to test stuff? Of course that would be as good as the engine simulation but would allow testing quite a lot...

Re: Mazda Rx7 13b REW Engine on RUSEFI
Largest issue with 13B Rew is the accuracy and frequency of injectors and ignition firing. With 2 rotors, each with 3 chambers firing each rotation, dual spark and dual injection and redline near 10k, you are looking at 12 ignites and 12 sequential injections per rotation. Also there is little room ...
