Re: Mercedes M104 install

It's running but I've had to put it on the back burner for now.

Needs to be tuned.

Re: IDLE not working

idle output is a float value with a lot of precision, it's the gauge which had no decimal ponits - one digit after the point added. period, verbose and offset clarification added - let me know if it's not exactly undestandable or maybe suggest some better wording if you see what I mean but you thin...

Re: IDLE not working

The Bosch idle valve is very common and is used on bmw's, volvo's etc. Normally 120-200hz pwm is used. It is a spring loaded rotary valve. I've used this valve with microsquirt and Haltech elite 750 and it works very well with those ecu's with virtually no tuning. This picture shows it working with ...

Re: IDLE not working

there needs to be higher resolution for the output as it changes in whole percentage points, it needs tenth percentage steps. resolution where? on some gauge or where _exactly_? which _exact_ setting do you think need more explanation? I thought I was clear that the idle output needs to be higher r...

Re: IDLE not working

After a lot of trial and error I found settings that work ok. There are still some issues though, there needs to be higher resolution for the output as it changes in whole percentage points, it needs tenth percentage steps. There seems to be no way of opening the idle valve after a rev and the engin...

Re: IDLE not working

Ok, I got an output using PD7 LOW1a-03, looks like PE6 output is faulty with my board. And the test page output for idle valve does nothing.

The motor revs up but stalls as the rusefi over corrects. Are there known values that work for the PID on the Bosch valve?

IDLE not working

Hi, I have no output for the idle control. I have a BAC that standard on Mercedes. I wired it 12v one side and the other to INJ-01(PE6) and there is no output from rusefi. I've tried PE5 and PB7 and there is no waveform output from rusefi. I'm using an oscilloscope to test. When I try the idle valve...

Re: Mercedes M104 install

I started the car today no problem , I'll shoot a video of it running tomorrow.

It seems the idle isn't working so I added the shunt diode but ran out of time to see if it made any difference.

Re: Mercedes M104 install

The M104 is a K-jet mechanical injected motor.
So there is no ecu connector to chop into.

I've made a fuel rail and TPS adapter and also using 60lb Siemens DEKA injectors.

Re: Mercedes M104 install

Finally got the rusEfi wired up to the connector. I had to print a deeper socket for the connector to mount to. IMG_20180608_1357311.jpg Anyone reading this and is thinking about buying the rusEfi, don't do what I did and buy it without the 64 pin connector that is optionally sold with the unit. Thi...

Re: Mercedes M104 install

They make male / female jumper wires like the below. It's not a nice ribbon like the one you show, but it has both sides already crimped. I'm also not sure how well it will fit the connector pins, if at all. https://www.seeedstudio.com/1-Pin-Female-Male-Jumper-Wire-125mm-%2850pcs-pack%29-p-1319.htm...

Re: Mercedes M104 install

Soldering hanging wires to a connector like this is blah. Generally wires are better when soldered into a hole. Would a break out board for this connector be of interest? Something similar to the one linked below. https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=507 I wonder if there is a more clea...

Mercedes M104 install

I'm using a molex 35 pin connector, the same as used on the Microsquirt. They're reasonably priced can be purchased from Mouser or Digikey. https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/571-1-776230-5 I make a trigger wheel for the M104 and M103 engines that utilises a Hall effect sensor. https://www.gptechse...

Re: CAM speed trigger input

Hmmm, perhaps "4 storke primary = 360" or "4 stroke primary = 720" I kind of think that there should be some rusEFI specific acronyms. Perhaps acronyms like P rimary E ngine A ngle D ecoder (PEAD) and S econdary E ngine A ngle D ecoder (SEAD). Then the comment could note "4...

VVT on Mercedes M104

I've read through setting up VVT for the Miata and it looks like Aux PID is intended for controlling VVT. The VVT on the first M104 motors is an on/off solenoid, there's no variable control. When driving, under load the cam advance happens at 1500 rpm & goes back to retard at 4200 rpm. Could som...

Re: CAM speed trigger input

I didn't get. The last attempt was a success because you used that box around your printer? And all of the previous attempts failed because you hadn't had that box? It was a combination of things but having the box around the printer definitely helped. I use Cube Glue Stabilizes your print on the g...

Re: CAM speed trigger input

Try putting a box around your printer, such that the air does not move around to much. This prevents the part from cooling off to quickly, and helps with the new layer adhering to the older / colder layer. This box also helps prevent your part from cooling to quickly. When it cools quickly it has a...

Re: CAM speed trigger input

Ok, I confirmed what you said. I setup Ardustim to output a 36-1 trigger pattern into the CAM input and rusefi sees it as double the input. ie, 1250rpm input equals 2500rpm at crank. I think if you reword the dialogue box to CAM speed or CRANK speed input or sensor location it would be clearer. ruse...

Re: CAM speed trigger input

Yes, I've seen that but there is no speed setting so the rusefi won't know if it's crank or cam speed. So you do not see "operation mode" and the options in that drop down do not ring a bell? "4 storke with crank" vs "4 stroke with cam" what do you think this is about?...

You just set it as 36-1 cam sensor, no tricks needed here Ok,I needed to know that for sure before I went ahead with wiring it in as this would stop me dead. Also, I can't see the VVT output pin, and how do I calibrate the Voltage? To calibrate VBatt you adjust battery divider so that VBatt matches...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case / official

Yes good pojnt i can make a version of project template for frankenso. Primary is never none, just use cam as primary and set cam mode. How will this work, as the input is expecting the pattern at crank speed. I need sequential injection. And 36-1 at cam speed with no crank trigger gives you that i...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case / official

Let's take injector 1 for example. It uses PB7, so we have to look at the schematic to get where PB7 goes, it's inj-12, which is low-1a-12, then we have to look at the pin out, which looks like it lines up with W63 or is it W64? Next one is battery voltage, I have 13.1v going into it from the PS, b...
