Re: CAN support

It will depend on used chip there. Some ELM are based on 8bit 5Volt chips and some, ELS27 for example, is PIC24.... which is 3V3 chip.
I use dsPIC (like PIC24) on 3V3 with TJA1057. TJA needs 5Volt power, but is 3V3 compatible on CPU side/inputs (TX+RX pins).

Re: CAN support

Cheapest option for CAN monitoring is ELM327.
comands:
ATSP6 - switch to CAN (pins 6+14)
ATH1 - switch header showing ON
ATCAF0 - CAN autoformating OFF (turn OFF ISO15765 format)
ATMA - start monitoring of the CAN

As per "crystal start oscil.", was not there big capacitance load in an schematic ? I think I saw some mistake like that there some time ago
and also commented it here.

It's not a big problem to implement ISO protokol, But It's Not so Simple like added Two wires in the OBD connector. If you really want implement it, You Can try Google with "Stern iso protocol". There are sources somewhere.

Re: Returnless fuel lines

It's not necessarily that complicated- it really depends on the car and how 'returnless' the system actually is. For example: on '99 to '05 (NB) Miatas the fuel system is called returnless, but it actually has a return integrated in.... So in such system you have constant press. in rel. to ambient ...

Re: Returnless fuel lines

Exactly. It will not be as simple. You will need to compensate fuel amount in conjuct.with actual pressure. Rate of press. drop in line depends on actual fuel consumption, .... It will not be simple.

Don't know about any tuning with ELM. I think only serial port or usb to serial port is supported in MS, no ? (http://www.tunerstudio.com/index.php/cablesandbluetooth) You can use ELM like a "retransceiver", but it is not so simple as with other "transparent" devices. ELM can not...

kb1gtt: 470p capacitor is used for connection from external source of clock (CPU or ...) into HIP/TPIC in the PDF = without a crystal. But you use it in a setup with crystal. It is totally another situation. I think you should not tight crystal circuit with 470p to "ground", because it wil...

If sensor->v1 and v2 are values for "switchpoint", it is not a good idea, I think. It should be somewhere arround 0.5V. 0.9V is too high for rich condition and 0.1V is too small for lean condition. Some older lambdas tends to shift whole voltage characteristic down (even under 0Volts in le...

I doubt in exactness on it. I saw some cars with cheap chinese MAFs and theirs fuel corrections numbers were huge (out of max. 25%) !

USB2CAN int. like Lawicel or so uses different command set than ELM.
ELM commands are not protected at all, what I know. No problem to use it.
But for clear CAN analyzing and communication "Lawicel" protocol is better (more straightforward) than ELM.
