Re: Your First ever rusEFI start tips

One thing that has just come up is possible a dodgy coolant sensor making for a hard first start - Solution was to temporarily flat map the CLT fuel corrections just to be sure that it was not causing issues with the first start up and fix the CLT after we knew it was all working otherwise. Also som...

Re: 1998 BMW V12 engine M73 #55

Might be able to clear up some confusion here, the injectors are "air guided" so they use a cushion of air around the injection spray to help prevent port wall wetting (and thus emissions during transients), I believe they are not using any kind of pressurised air unless they were previous...

Re: microRusEFI

In the current case I do not see how we would have space for it. There is not 1 square cm of the current MRE that does not have functional circuits on it.

Huh, weird.

Well I will give it an update and confirm if the board wakes up with just frankenso power.

Sounds like this is an FAQ thing.

Is there something special about the TPS?

M52 TPS is reverse signal (lower ADC open than when closed) and RE has been working fine with that for a long time.

Just to update on this thread, AZM now has his MRE in his hands and ready for him to begin his rusEFI adventure.

Given his skills we should see him starting a car up over the weekend right? ;)

Welcome to the mad house.

Re: Your First ever rusEFI start tips

Something that has just come up, checking the fuel pump is running is really worthwhile. Fuel pressure - record value this is last, learned that the hard way a few years ago when I set the shop on fire because I had the fuel pump on and an injector wire shorted and filling the exhaust system with f...

Re: microRusEFI

Just as a confirmation, I tested the AUX lowsides on AV 6, 8, 9 and 10 tonight and I can confirm that all but AV6 will work as a lowside out of the box. AV6 needs a zero ohm resistor added to make that one work but it also functions. So if the AUX AV reuse pins are selected then they 100% work. What...

May have just been diagnosing a non-start log that is hopefully due to a non functional fuel pump.

Re: microRusEFI

Your looking to run a 6 cylinder right? At this time the only proven way to run a 6 cylinder on an MRE is wasted spark and batch injection using the standard 4 Inj and Ign outputs. The VNLD5090 is pretty untested as far as I am aware, they were added on 0.5.2 and I believe have not been used for any...

Re: Ion Sense

To give a more positive update to this thread we have assembled a prototype DIY ion board based on a design MCK117 produced and have tested it using an R50 mini wasted spark coil connected to an MRE. Result was no magic smoke escaping after 50+ sparks and a trace captured on a scope that was nicely ...

Re: Ion Sense

I would like to make a note here that the 2002 paper on diy ion sense is fundamentally wrong in many areas, at the time of writing it seems the author did not understand either the fundamentals of combustion timing or the nature of the signal being sensed. A quick Google of it also brings up the thr...

Re: Your First ever rusEFI start tips

The comment about using the bench test is a good one, I had to do that recently to figure out the wasted spark wiring on a car I was struggling to start had been done wrong so 1 was 6 and 2 was 4 etc etc.

Re: Your First ever rusEFI start tips

That's a good one, "is there fuel in it?" is one I see too many people, right up to professional level get wrong. I think my first tip would have to be "make use of the bench test functions" On a new board I like to check that all channels are responding and set to the correct in...

OK I see, so its more a case of being able to overide the afr table to do power enrichment above a certain tps point. That makes sense. For clarity, using the afr table to tune the labmda for normal running conditions and run lamdba one everywhere you don't have to use rich mixture for cooling (lik...

Case has been getting updated to rev 0.3/0.4 tonight so it has extra back space for the capacitor and the front USB as an option.
Will hopefully have some decent progress and a new STL package tomorrow.

Re: 1995 m73 5.4 v12 ecu needed for countach replica !!!!!!!!!!

by the look of it this is an M73 rather than the M73tu so it is using 3x 88pin connectors.

This one is the reason I was sure Andrey's was 88pin but turned out to be 134pin.

There is a change on the M62 V8 and M73 V12 sometime in the 90s from the 88 pin to the 134.

You lucky that you are using an M73 so we have a fair bit of knowledge on these between a few people on the forum. I gather your install is relatively unique but that should not matter too much. For general information then the wiki is the best place to go. https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/wiki If y...
