Are you thinking a little more room around the board to get the wire in?
There is a USB header that is designed for a wire in USB, it's through holes so could be wired from either side.

Re: Renault special 60 -2 flywheel on microRusEFI
Wait, your trying to use 60-2 trigger setting with a wheel that does not give a pattern for 60-2? I think this may be the route of your random sparking behaviour. I have a feeling this may need a special trigger setting of that high tooth filing into a double -2 gap. Otherwise your trigger is really...

Re: Looking for a good electrical diagram for M73
That's true for the M70 but not the M73.
M70 uses a pair of modified M1.3 motronic units but the M73 uses the much later more complex M5.2 ECU.

Re: JRockland E38 750il gen 1 supercharged
The knock sensors will totally have been throwing a fault code if they have cracked. Kind of common on the BMWs of that age as the age/heat cycles get to them after a while. You might want to go for something bigger than the Jag supercharger, iirc they run out of puff around 450hp which will be very...

Re: M73 Automatic transmission
It is actually easier to spoof the inputs to that generation ECU than it would seem, I have done it on the M3.3 which is the generation before your ECUs. Can you grab the BMW part number from the 2 ECUs you have to confirm what generation they are and I will try to get some details up of how I have ...

Re: M73 Automatic transmission
I think you might get away with taking the CAN messages and transmission info from a 750, 740 or 840. I believe they are very similar and would be surprised to learn of any significant differences in the comms or body modules. Certainly the ready programmed transmission unit is the same part number ...

People have had good results with a few kinds of COPs. Known working setups are: Chevy LS smart coils VW smart coils M50/M52 BMW using audi ignition pack Miata smart coils That is just off the top of my head. The short version is nearly any coils can be made to work but if your in the USA and want l...

Re: Looking for a good electrical diagram for M73
That is something a lot of people find. They are intimidated but the apparent complexity of the BMW stuff, once you get into it you realise it's actually pretty simple and standardised across a lot of their cars. They like to evolve things so each generation is not too drastically different to the l...

Re: rusEfi simulator
I would say at this stage the best way to play with rusefi is to get a discovery board or one of the compatible nucleo boards and load the RE firmware onto that.
Full TS license is more expensive than a board and then disco/nucleo can be used for development annd testing later.

Re: Audi v8 with ITBs
It is relatively simple to detect poor combustion in one cylinder from the instantaneous speed of the crank shaft. A misfire shows up as a period of declining speed at a time you would be expecting a positive speed delta. I.e. the instantaneous tooth time increases at a point you would expect it to ...

Re: M73 Automatic transmission
100% agree, it would be easier to dangle the motor back into the bay to get it fired up, we have seen these units be rather touchy about the connections to some of the modules. You would likely do more damage getting everything out to run on the bench than it is worth. Regarding the install of a rus...

I would agree, tuning the M5.2 is a dead end and IMO a purely academic exercise now given modern standalones are catching up with the 90s OEM.

Re: Bmw 850 ci M73 supercharged
A TLDR on the stock ecu is that the M5.2 is sort of an evolution of the M3.3 used in the E36, on the E36 the program for the ECU is partly in the processors memory but it is also replicated in it's entirety in the ROM, which means it can be read, modified and the processor forced to run totally from...

We have zero interest to handle weird stepper motors and weird pedal - we prefer simpler modern ETBs and simpler modern pedals see https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/wiki/HOWTO-M73-v12-on-Proteus Your 96 harness is probably not using https://www.ebay.com/itm/333779143374 ...

New V2 easy print case is now also good to go.
This fits the V4 and 5 versions of Proteus and is much simpler to print in PETG.

Re: Fw. improvement - PANIC BUTTON
I think within the plan for "smart features" the concept of a panic trigger could be included. A single flag based on a pin state that manually triggers "limp mode" (what ever that may turn out to be or the user chooses it to be). It might actually be worth including that as part...

Re: Limp Home and Engine Protection
FSIO would be 100% relevant here, being able to use FSIO for a lot of this would be the quick and dirty way forward until we put them into the code as integrated features. It would also allow the custom bits in the same way as the GPIO. I don't think it would be too bad to ask users to paste in read...

Re: Limp Home and Engine Protection
Adding a further suggestion to the pot here, in some cases a custom bit of protection may be wanted, some additional actions that the ECU would need to take over and above the basic intervention. Suggestion is that we expose the flags for each fault condition to the GPIO so it is possible to have th...

Would like to correct, it seems only the US pickups use the open sensor on the GDI, most normal GDI engines stick with the small hole version.
