Here is a video capture of a TS dashboard when I was sitting still, tried to rev up to 3000 rpm and hold.

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

I did a quick test with the DSO to capture the two igniter signals that are driven from the Frankenso board, rev'ed to about 3000 rpm sitting still. igniters.jpg Here are more pictures when I was out driving before this and only looking at one igniter signal. igniter2.jpg igniter3.jpg It looks odd t...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

I'm back home and can do more testing tomorrow. I have a simple 2 channel digital storage oscilloscope and a 2 channel analog oscope. I can look at spark signals on the board, and maybe try to couple to the spark plug wires and look for weak sparks. Any suggestions on specific tests to run? I may be...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

One time I noticed hesitation is in the video just after 1:28 after shifting to 5th gear. You can see the spikes in AFR when I shift, but after shifting to 5th there are two more little spikes. It seems like it was more than just those 2 or 3 seconds though. I'll do more testing on Saturday after I ...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

Yes, I do have an SD card on the board capturing logs. I didn't watch closely enough when the hesitation happened. I have a video from some of the testing and I put it together with a capture I did of the TS gauge view I got from @thommm, I don't see an afr spike when I think the hesitation happened...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

I now have idle control, map, tps, speed density tuning settings based on @thommm's smurf tune, and I drove about 20 miles on it testing and running TS auto tune. It's running very well now. Thanks, Thommm, for sharing the tune!! It is still running rich at idle and a little rich overall. And, I get...

After updating to 6/18 firmware calibrating tps shows sane results for 0 to 100% rather than 100 to 0. TPS report is good now :D

Re: Firmware developent status

Well, now https://sourceforge.net/p/rusefi/tickets/199/ is also fixed. When calibrating TPS, the settings appear to be "backwards" What is the correct direction for TPS voltage sensing? I wired mine to be about 0v for closed, and 3.25v for wide open. Mine shows backwards in TS now, and I ...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

Yes, it did seem that I was not running on all cylinders.

After changing the injector outputs, I'm running much smoother. I also enabled MAP and WBO2 inputs today, and I leveraged @thommm's smurf tune.
Now running very smoothly!

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21

That run was semi-warm. I first tried it warmed it up on stock ECU and it failed. I realized two hours later that my swapping out tuning files disabled injectors. Engine had cooled to about 104F. I tried again just now cold (87F in Texas), and it started up easily. Still runs pretty rough though. An...

Another day, another Miata running rusEFI! :D I picked up the latest firmware and applied @russian's tune for a rough timing and fuel map. She started!! Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock

Yes, using stock AFM ,vane type. I just tried manually pushing in the vane, and I can hear the fuel pump turn on/off. It is not very loud and too quiet to hear when cranking. But after doing that and trying to crank after the fuel pressure was up, there were a few puff trying to catch on to start. A...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock

Thanks for the tips. I swapped back to the stock ECU to verify things are still ok, and it started up fine. I rechecked the injectors with benchtest and can hear them clicking on both channels. I tried cranking with different values of advance, and there are no puffs at all that I can tell without t...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock

Yes I have injectors set to IM_BATCH, and plenty of fuel in the tank. I tried spraying in some starter fluid just now and it almost started. The stock AFM has a switch to enable the fuel pump. It looks like no additional wiring or signal needed. The car starts fine on the stock ECU, so AFM should be...

Re: Project EcoBoost Smurf (Miata NA) #19

I'm trying see what is different with your configuration and mine (1990 1.6L) which is not starting yet. The main difference I see is you wired the igniter drive to 12v rather than 5v. I checked the signal on the stock ECU, and I see 5v pulses. Are you using the stock igniter & coils? Thanks!

From Drive, I was able to save Thommm's tsproj file to my own google Drive, then download the file from there. The file is actually a zip file. I renamed it to Smurf.zip and attached it here.

Thanks, Thommm, for the very helpful write up on your configuration!!

Thanks, @russian, I can make sparks on all the plug wires now from bench test, but I am still missing something basic. Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock

I have made some progress but still seeing some problems. On igniters, I can see LEDs flash from bench test on both lines. And timing light confirms sparks on the plug wires. When cranking I see LEDs flashing only on first ignitor channel. On the bench, running self stimulation shows the same, only ...

I thought that input was unused. Any ideas?
