Re: 1998 BMW V12 engine M73
Let me dig out the electrical manual I have for the 750i should help with a lot of this. Otherwise for BMW work the bentley manual is the goto. https://www.amazon.co.uk/BMW-E38-Service-Manual-740il/dp/0837616182 Perhaps these links will be of use: http://www.e38.org/? https://www.meeknet.co.uk/E38/P...

Re: 1998 BMW V12 engine M73
The transmission is the same Bosch 88pin plug as the ECU. (good source of cheap 88pin ecu side plugs as they are hard to get). You might be able to get away with using the transmission ECU from a 530/540 or 740 v8, as far as I am aware it is nearly identical but check the ETK. The unit comes up as u...

I can also confirm the VNH2SP30 works quite well as a low cost, easily available option. Had no trouble running throttles from 40-70mm on the bench with it.
Preferred is the OEM style chips but the VNH2SP30 will do the job.

Re: Snap on programming header like the OEM's do
That was my thoughts earlier today while at work, best if we had something that holds the programmer in place.
Although I am left to think that it is a lot of fuss to replace something that already works ok if we are careful.

That is actually impressively stable, to the point of making the Alpha-N a little redundant. MAP windowing is a really good thing for us to have, combined with the other settings that's actually a pretty powerful toolset.

Re: Snap on programming header like the OEM's do
I was going to suggest we get hold of some individual pogo pins and push them into a 3d printed holder. Regarding 3d printing strength if done right I have managed to use it for suspension prototypes that could hold the weight of the car in order to do geometry checks. Things have advanced a lot and...

Re: Honda CBR600RR fuel injection
Sorry to jump in a bit late on this but just noticed the suggestion of an innovate WBO2, personal experience has proven what the online reviews say - The innovate stuff is unreliable junk. After switching to an AEM X-series gauge I wish I had gone with one at the start. The new X series is an awesom...

I don't think there is any room in the case for a MAP sensor, the case has also been designed with the ability to seal it up watertight in mind. A MAP sensor through the case would probably prevent this. In any case a MAP sensor inside the case means vacuum tubes and that means messy tubes around th...

Re: TPS Enrichment
Couple of questions - You say you have TPS noise activating the AE (or at least the risk of it), what TPS do you have and are you seeing any noise? I can say on my BMW setup there is no noise at all on the TPS signal and I was able to run quite low TPS deltas without triggering it accidentally. Can ...

Re: Old Russian motorcycle fuel injection
You might want to take a look at the ford 1l throttle bodies, they are 40mm single ETBs and cheap and common. Edit - @russian has just noted your in Russia so parts may be a bit different to what we have in Europe. Throttles I refer to come from the 1l GTDI engines used in the fiesta and focus from ...

Re: Stimulator Problem
I have done that on a few ECUs before, bread boarded out the pins and installed LEDs and resistors for the ignitions/injection and set up potentiometers for the sensor inputs. It's a handy thing to do for testing outputs and verifying firmware. As a longer term goal I could provide some details on w...

Re: VR board
Confirmed this issue earlier today, it needs a combination of a short trigger duration (like 10 degrees) and a slow RPM (10hz signal frequency causes it).
Seems like the only answer for a lot of these situations is to use a hall sensor for the slow signal.

Sure, I can only really suggest what I have tried and I expect your US power supplies are different to our UK ones.
I simply scoped the signal before and after the transformer to check they matched.
I will do something tonight to confirm if we have this issue.

Re: VR board
By the way, speaking about the possible tests of VR interface in general (just to check if I get square pulses out of a sine wave) - is it a good idea to use 18V transformer (220AC to 18 AC) as a source of that sine signal? Thing is, when I used a multimeter in AC voltage measuring mode, I got only...

I've used these radio-shack transformers for things similar to this. Any suggestions on a particular part number? I'm thinking the transformer should be 600 ohms, 1:1 and reasonably high frequency response. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_CAds=&_ex_kw=&_fpos=&_fspt=1&_mPrRngCbx=1...

Re: VR board
No need for a physical wheel, I have been using this to generate crank triggers for a while. http://www.daqarta.com/ It has a specific menu for generating crank triggers in different shapes. Hook it up via an isolating transformer and you get really good low voltage representations of a VR crank tri...

Re: bosch 7506280 GDI driver
Without even looking to check I can say you are looking at anything from 12 to 35 bar for pressures depending on the injectors so pulse width is all over the place. In terms of running the engine (ignoring emissions and knock limited stuff) then any pressure around 20bar will do and adjust the fuel ...

Re: GDI: injector control options
If we look at Bosch chips can we be sure of supply? It has been my experience that the chips are available either to OEM clients or on a very patchy aftermarket basis. That or they can change part numbers seemingly at random making identifying chips a game of whack-a-mole. This makes DIY build prett...

Re: VBatt oddness on Frankenso
Just to round this off incase anyone finds it in future with a similar issue. I checked the board last night and it seems it was actually working as intended. My initial tests failed because a resistor was in correct on the first stage voltage divider. Instead of a 3.9:1 ratio on the divider I had a...

Re: electronic throttle body control ETB
I suspect that is due to an increase in friction around the closed region. With a greater DeltaP across the throttle there will be a larger side load on the spindle, most are still plain bearings so the loading ups the friction. Have you tried increasing the compensation for the friction inline with...

Re: VBatt oddness on Frankenso
I currently don't have W44 installed, I was just probing to the via for that jumper. However I don't think I have W2 in place either as I was working on the premise that VBatt is on INP12 via W44. Edit - ignore that boxxxks obviously W2 is installed or I wouldn't have any power to the board. I assum...

VBatt oddness on Frankenso
I'm expecting this to be entirely my fault but I am having some odd response from my VBatt channel. It seems to work fine but any voltage above 5v is saturating the ADC and reading the same in tuner studio. I have double checked all the resistors match the schematic. The VBatt divider setting works ...

First couple of issue to solve right now are the Tachometer (rev counter) and the VBatt. VBatt :- To keep the install neat I jumpered W44 to the via next to the main 5A fuse to pick up the incoming 12v supply. For some reason this currently is not working properly, I have a feeling I did something ...

I thought I should get a my car thread up now that it's running. Ill fill out some info in this first post later on when I have a bit of time free but the short version is:- the car began life as a 320, gained a 2.5 lump a while back and has since been running on the later 24v ECU from an E36. Pretty sure that big Epcos Cap is for the direct injectors. They will be firing at ~60v so those two big orange 75v caps are likely to provide the big jolt needed to do the initial opening.
