Re: LS swap: rusEfi as a piggyback?
I think the intent is to have rusefi actually running the engine, but tricking the stock ECU into thinking everything is okay. In "lay-person's" language: The owner tells the manager what it wants. Since the actual work needed is different than what the owner really wants, the manager has ...

Re: Engine tutorials
Have been wondering when someone would point at this. I've used it as a reference for many things Toyota over the last 10 years or so. It does update fairly often, as new Toyota tech comes out. I've found a few errors in it, mostly because at some points things are over-generalized, but good ...

Re: v6 cologne engine
what's the original purpose of ecu in this vehicle? I recall I've seen a granada from mid 80s with injection-equipped v6. it could be the very same model of v6 engine ;-) for instance, i've found an intake manifold from injector engine and this would be an easy swap (at least i hope so). do you int...

Re: another MCU board option
So you would need 'specialized' hardware on the 'main' board... (I'm considering the processor here as part of a 'daughter' board)... to facilitate programming? Fine and dandy. This does, however, put the brakes on my efforts to generate a TMS570LSxxxx board since it would need to be compatible with...

Re: GPIO implementation
Suppose we'll have to agree to disagree. The concept mentioned, though specifically addressing radiator fans and fuel pumps, is just as valid toggling GPIO for fuel injectors and ignition. It may mean a total rethink / refactor of the extant code, to accommodate real time events in real time, though.

High-level functions that influence low-level GPIO, and thus hardware registers, no? Sure, at the end of the day the outputs are toggled thus the registers are involved somehow :) My point was that spending the time to do the calcs and then later changing the GPIO status to match is a waste of time...

A little more detail might be helpful; number of cylinders, for instance... but probably better suited starting a discussion for that in the appropriate section.

I think we just need to figure out how to follow in the foot steps of Live via http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selling_the_Drama Then we would have a budget to do it right :) I also take issue with my designs, but I draw a line at getting done instead of doing it perfectly. Re: TMS570 MPU board
I would wager a guess that the chips general functions can be routed reasonably well. For example, going CW around the header we generally have analog to the left top side of the header. Then misc digital IO (DIO) along the bottom like USB, SPI and CAN are along the bottom of both headers. Then dig...

Re: Possible option for generating VR sensor signals
Often those RC DAC's are followed by an voltage follower op-amp. The op-amp can drive several mA of current and they keep a consistent impedance to the RC DAC. Not sure how relevant this is to your statement but the MCP4922 can source ~10mA per output. Also, there would be a PGA between the DAC and...

One way or another we would need a synchronization point - either it would be the skipped tooth in the 60/2 case or a separate signal on a separate line in case of 1+4+24 Honda. There are several dev boards / eval kits, but I don't think any are 144 pin, and don't think you'll like the prices.

Re: TMS570 MPU board
In 100 pin, you'd be resigned to using either the 0432 or 0332, neither of which have FPU. The difference between those two is 384KB (0432) versus 256KB (0332) flash. The 57004 launchpad board breaks all the pins out to the 3 headers. The underside of the board lists the default function for each pi...
