PCM = Powertrain Control Module.
Meaning the ECU in Ford speak. Adding an "-ing" to the "train" changes the whole meaning. Similar to forgetting to put the "~" tilda over the "n" in the Spanish word for "years"

Re: auto-tune injector lag
Awesome! That switching feature will sure come in handy. No need to remove injectors and bench-test. There will be people who will tell you that this is not a scientific method and doesn't reflect the real lag. To those I say: Stuff it! This approach creates predictability of injector behavior. That...

Re: '99 Miata in Eastern PA #17
Your guesses at the MS circuits seem to be largely correct: MS3 filters MAT and CLT with 2k2 and 1.0uF. Since we don't have to have millisecond accuracy here, that's sufficient (cut-off frequency is 73Hz). TPS is filtered with 1k0 and 0.22uF (cut-off frequency is 720Hz). Vbat seems to be an unfilter...

Re: '99 Miata in Eastern PA #17
Got some logs off the '99 with MS3 here- didn't have time to plug in the rusefi. Even with the engine running and no firmware smoothing applied there is no noise worth mentioning. With just a little software smoothing the noise goes away and still the values react to real changes quite snappy. The n...

Re: Miata NA 1990, 1.6L stock #21
If you look at the noise on the '90 Miata, you can see the short term order of noise on the MAT and CLT running exactly in parallel. The noise on the TPS is exactly opposite to that. So it's clearly something with the supply. So maybe more low-pass on the 5V side might help here. @russian: During th...

A few things: - It appears you are not logging all values. In order to troubleshoot, I think we need to look at 'fuel: tps delta', 'fuel: tpsAccel'. I would also like to see the values for the engine load based accel calculation, but it appears they are not available for logging. - Your signals are ...

Hopefully the last question:
5k resistors run at almost $2/piece on Digikey. I assume using 4k7 at a price of $0.01/piece instead will not be a problem. Correct?

In order to troubleshoot the fuel accel, it would be helpful if you could post a graph with AFR-AFRtarget (alternatively AFR and AFRtarget), MAPdot, TPSdot and rpm.
Also only tune accel enrichment on a fully warmed up engine.

I've had those boards sitting on my desk since April, when my life took a sudden detour. I'm back- at least for a little while. Is there still any interest in me populating these and giving them a whirl? What chip do I use? Digikey has the 9927 at $5.54 and the 9926 at $7.19. Doesn't look like we wi...

CAN bus WB O2 sensor
In order to increase non-timing-critical I/O capabilities, using external, cheap and simple I/O modules which communicate with the main module is an effective way of reducing the I/O demands on the central unit. In the automotive environment, the communication is usually done via CAN bus. rusefi alr...

In order to make any sensible use of rusefi with the '03, I need a WB O2 sensor. Fortunately, I still have one sitting around unused. Hi i like to test this sensor, $30 in ebay its ok to experiment, maybe the sensor attached to stainless steel tubing then welded to spark plug best regrads You need pressure sensor for 2000 bar I don't think so. Afaik peak cylinder pressure in gasoline engines is usually 1000psi and lower. So maybe...

Re: '03 Miata with VVT
That's the correct connector indeed. BUT: In order to be able to easily swap between stock ECU and rusefi I would like to have a few additional I/O, for example for the external MAP sensor, boost control and I'm sure I can think of a few more, if I really try. So I was thinking about using the 122pi...

Re: '99 Miata in Eastern PA #17
I *LOVE* the new squaretop intake. With the old VICS the engine really bogged down after about 5krpm. And the VICS is pretty much the best intake available in any NA/NB Miata in the US. With the squaretop it feels like the engine just keeps going and going and going. Look how the power curve keeps c...

Re: Returnless fuel lines
It's not necessarily that complicated- it really depends on the car and how 'returnless' the system actually is. For example: on '99 to '05 (NB) Miatas the fuel system is called returnless, but it actually has a return integrated in the tank which is responsible for keeping the pressure constant. So...

Re: 1991 Miata
Not sure if this matters, but your MAT and CLT show the same pattern on the noise. The short term variations on both move in lock-step. Interestingly, the vbatt moves opposite to that. Also with a 90hp car, you need to COMMIT to the throttle. There's waaaaay too much throttle-feathering going on. La...

Awesome! Needs more data though :-) A few observations: - Looking at TPS and RPM data, it's quote obvious that you -unfortunately- don't have a traction problem - The regular noise on CLT and MAT follows the same pattern: Check your sensor 5V and GND - CLT calibration is off - CLT spikes every once ...

Re: Dual Map Tables
Street tuning works much better than its' reputation suggests. I've used Virtualdyno, combined with detcans quite successfully to tune spark. All you need for fuel is a wideband anyway. And then, after you have a perfect street tune, get the last 0.5% on a dyno.
