Re: Snap on programming header like the OEM's do

If it's low volume it shouldn't be that hard to 3D print, with some tweaks. ;) I printed this with 1.4mm holes but had to drill them to 1.5mm, which might be too lose. Maybe with some tweaking you could a straight 3D print, and push the pogo in with a soldering iron so the plastic melts a bit and gl...

Re: Snap on programming header like the OEM's do

I fear 3D printed stuff likes to break when flexed. The layers tend to shear. That's only if you are doing to wrong. Like if you print with ABS on a non enclosed printer it can de-laminate. You can increase the number of perimeters, go full solid infill, decrease layer hight so each layer if squash...

Perhaps this sticky thread could include the videos, while comments like this post could be in another thread. AKA perhaps this can be a handy place for educational purposes. Or perhaps the above list should be included in the wiki.... Any how I feel my comments are handy for developers and less ha...

Re: Stimulator Problem

I was mainly wondering what output I should be getting from the pin. Like if I press the Fuel Pump button in Console/Bench Test, should PE4 change from 0 to 3.3V. Currently when I press it PE4 does nothing. I don't know if this is telling me anything, but this is what I get from the Console dialogue...

Re: Stimulator Problem

I definitely checked it beforehand, and it's 2.9V. I know it might blow it up, ;) that's why I asked you guys. I went from 60ºC to -7ºC, and it was good enough to show an effect. I tried to bump the rpm in the console so the INJ PW would be greater, but the sniffer jitter is back. Either way that se...

Re: Stimulator Problem

It's 2 AA batteries(3V) through a 10K pot outputting a voltage that is feed straight into PC1. The guage moves from 0ºC to 60ºC, which is kind-of enough to show an effect, but I was just wondering why it doesn't go higher. I don't think anyone will do this straight to a Disc board, but I have to fil...

Re: Stimulator Problem

Don't sweat it, it's working now. Sorry about this stupid question. If I was putting voltages directly to the inputs pins on the Discovery, ie: no rusEFI mainboard, is it 3.3V max or 5V? Just looking it up it says the logic level for CLT pin PC1 is 3.3V, but when I try 3.3V it on'y reaches 60ºC max....

Re: Stimulator Problem

I'm getting a FW program update fail with snapshot_20190610_1840_stm32f407_rusefi, but snapshot_20190514_1926_stm32f407_rusefi works fine.
Any ideas.

Re: Stimulator Problem

As a longer term goal I could provide some details on what I have done before and how I set things up? That's ok, because I made a STIM unit a couple of years back that already does most of the stuff. This is mainly a "try before you buy" with min stuff, but I will probably end up making ...

Re: Stimulator Problem

People who don't know it, are the best for tutorials. It fills in the stuff others might neglect. It's just when you are unsure you are hesitant, ie; it gets too hard. Ahh FTDI. I have some communication modules around. I have a Prolific and some CP2101, and I got the Prolific running - it runs at ...

Re: Stimulator Problem

The problem is I don't know anything, and can only work it out if it has complete and simplified instructions. Basically I'm not qualified to do be doing tutorials.

I'll look up USB TTL, because I haven't heard of it before, and see if I can work it out.

Re: Wave strength in racing engines

My memory isn't great after 15 years, and yes now I remember a spacer.

I remember his 1st EMC engine had a piston that stuck out the bore ½" and had a spacer, but the rings were ½" down the piston so he could run it in detonation and it wouldn't break.

Stimulator Problem

Can you run the internal STIM with the wire jumpers PC6 to PD1 and PA5 to PD2 and the console, while communicating with TS. It looks like if you change the engine setting, ie trigger pattern, the STM32 outputs STIM pulses for that trigger pattern. At the bottom of - https://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php...

Wave strength in racing engines

Multi EMC winner John Kaase show how ludicrously strong the tuning waves are in a racing engine. And you wonder why it's so hard to get stable MAP readings with IR. https://youtu.be/7Iq1B-2paCs One of his EMC tricks. Old heads have notoriously bad short side radius, ie they are too short for good fl...

Re: Newbee on Rusefi

I was thinking of converting a Frankenstein to THT so it's accessible for people in poor countries who can't get modern ICs, but I figured this project is not their demographic. Basically I thought the easier it is to make, the more people will join. Before you go THT you might want to watch someone...

Re: Manufacturing options

In the past year I have read 3 cases of traces falling off PCBs when a burnt component was changed, but I don't know who the PCB manufacturer was. The 2 layer JLCPCBs that I got recently didn't lose any traces, and I applied a lot of heat fixing the FUs you didn't see, but I don't know about complic...

Re: Simulator Problem

If TS is the problem this vid is going to be weird, because you need a TS beta. I wonder why it was working before, because TS 3.0.28 has been around a long time and you would think it would still be ok.

DOH!

Here I am turning firewalls off, disabling anti-viruses, and rebooting left right and centre, and all this time telnet was telling me I didn't need to worry about that. Oh well at least I got to see an ASCII version of Star Wars through telnet.

I was looking at some old clips and TS used to load to 26% even before I installed telnet in my Win7. Do we still actually need telnet at all, because it seams to do the same thing with and without telnet.

I was going to give up, but since you've gone too so much trouble I will battle on.

Started HW VPS (virtual serial port), but connection to TS hangs at 26% and fails. More reading and it seams I need telnet. Will wait for the new bundle, and then try to install telnet client.

I might suggest TS video / tutorial before a Console video / console. I'm doing a kind-of "try before you buy" with min hardware, ie just the STM32 Disc board, so I'm doing the console first. I haven't checked, but I think there will be a problem with TS if all the pins are open and float...
