Re: Hello from Finland - carb to rusEFI?

There are a number of sites that sell them, I got my kit from Aliexpress.com. The injector is made by FAI and requires a lot less power from the alternator at low RPM. If that doesn't work out well then I also have a complete throttle body from a CB125 that cost £25 from eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/...

Re: true beginner, how to start

The OEM ECUs that I have worked with have many more maps and variables than an aftermarket ECU, it would be a very difficult task to combine those maps to fit into an aftermarket system like RusEFI - you would have to tune whatever ECU you bought.

Re: Hello from Finland - carb to rusEFI?

That would be similar to the engine that I have. Check out the injector that I have, it uses much less power than a conventional set up with an electric pump.

I got the GY back up together today and took it for a run around my field, the carb is flooding again so I need to give that another clean and check the integrity of the floats.

Those are the battery leads, however it does have two temperature sensors - they are bundled up in the harness.

Re: Am I dreaming? Possibility of BMW F650 (Motorcycle) conv

I think the guy who did the conversion with MS ended up using pure open-loop Alpha-N with only TPS-based maps, I'd like to do better than that! I think the problem with a MAP on a single is that you get very strong pulses when it draws fuel in and nothing in between. I have been giving this some th...

I intend to try the RusEFI controller. The FAI system seems quite crude, it has no MAP or temperature sensors, only the TPS so there will be quite a lot to experiment with.

Re: '99 (and '03 Miata) in Eastern PA #17

It looks like the load scale is simply 0 to 16 which is the number of cells. If you are tuning a stock ECU with an emulator then the actual scaling isn't that important, you just tweak the value in the cell that you're hitting.

Re: Another ECU...

I'm using the Maxim 9926, so am expecting the chip to reference the common mode voltage. It appears to have an internal 100K resister setting the positive leg to the internal bias voltage. It doesn't seem like a very strong connection to the bias voltage though. Do you think I should use external p...

Re: Another ECU...

I should be more clear. The diodes I am using to clamp are between the signal lines, they limit the differential voltage to a diode drop, it will never exceed something like 1.2V and maybe not reach even that. Ah, I understand now, however that stills leaves the common mode issue, how are you off-s...

Re: Another ECU...

You must do the clamping off-chip, the datasheet is quite clear that you should not put a negative voltage (<-0.3V) into the input of the differential amplifier; the behaviour of the output is not specified for voltages outside the common mode range. A diode clamp to rail isn't going to be adequate ...

Re: Another ECU...

You need to limit the negative swing of the VR to within -0.3V of ground or you will be outside of the working range of the Maxim chip, then you risk pushing the rails up and down which can shift the reference voltage and cause jitter - unless you are using the internal 2.5V offset.

I am working on this with my Vitara ECU, my idea was to get the software running on a proven platform before building a new circuit board. From what I recall the Hondas use a non-Motorola chip which would add complexity. On a Denso with a Motorola type processor the tables aren't too difficult to lo...

Nice, $12 chip and $130 eval board. It appears the eval PCB is also 2 layer, which is a good thing. I wonder how much heat it makes, and if it might need a heat sink. I see the mating SPC563M-DISP is $95. This is basically a full ECU for about $230. The IC has a thermal pad underneath so you need t...

The differences in thermal expansion from the PCB to component, commonly causes the copper adhesive to shear off PCB, fatigue ...

Then its probably just the emissions from the plug itself radiating into the wiring. How well grounded are the plugs? you may need to mount them in a metal box.
