Re: Idle tuning, Part 1

I have seen this, but it is not self explanatory! you set the open or the close time? I was looking something more like: Duration, Overlap, Lift That table sets the angle at which your injections end. Or, as blundar called it above, EOI = End Of Injection angle. The values in that table are degrees...

Nope. That part is up to you until we have a few good baselines.

That's for reverse protection without the drop of a diode. The body diode on Q1 "kick starts" the circuit that pulls its gate low, turning it on fully.

Bosch trims the sensor element itself on the LSU ADV. It works the same way, except there's no extra external (in the connector) resistor paralleled with the sense resistor inside the controller. OK .. precise laser cutter can do this job .... ..and the we can have same sensors ... no, that's only ...

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning

one thing i also did was to improve the transition from standard idle tables to the main tables. So if you are using idle VE and Idle ignition timing, you want to make sure the main table has those things correctly aligned as well. That way you dont get into any odd transitions. You actually want a...

"getting a base tune" Well, to my knowledge, nobody has run a VR6 and certainly not in a civic. You're going to have to do the leg work yourself to get the thing running. Start going thru menus in TunerStudio. Fill out anything you know how to fill out. One field at a time. Anything else, ...

LSU ADV is not better, other than warm up time. It doesn't require any hardware changes, afaik, just changing the software table to use the different pump current vs. lambda relationship.

btw we made the explicit choice to not support multiple devices per bus to avoid any priority inversion due to locking of the shared resource

I am using stm32f405 discovery. If you write the firmware from Frankenso, then the EGT works. We disabled it on MRE 🙃 ...

In the sim we can also play with what it looks like with insane value capacitors too.

Here's 1000uF (practically infinite):

1uF is a happy medium to suppress those spikes (= EMI), but not enough to hurt "DC" accuracy.

No, I don't mind MAFs, they're ok!

That scheme should work fine. If/when we build proper "full" multi-bank fueling (multiple MAFs, each control some cylinders), then it'll be trivial to enable that and remove the balance tube.

Mat, you are the best! I am waiting impatiently for it. Why not the "right" etb synchronization with two MAFs or MAPs? I think the effort would be similar, isn't? It's worth (read: probably necessary) to have either some localized (operating point) memory about how much split is required,...

Looks great! Idea. On the bank that is rich, change the TB closed position to tell the ECU 0% TPS is actually just a little open on the TB so it will never close quite as far. You can balance the idle mixtures this way and the error should go away as the TB opens so I think between this adjustment ...

Those resistors in your snip don't need to be 0.1%, by the way. Dave specified them when he didn't know better, and we've since decided that 1% is plenty good, and likely even 5% parts would work. The F0 module I originally designed uses only 'jellybean' 1% resistors. And if you don't believe me, s...

By the way, this is very very similar to how the CJ125 works internally. It uses some sample+hold stages (AND ANOTHER DIFFERENTIAL AMPLIFIER) synchronized to the AC injection instead of an ADC, but it works fundamentally the same as this circuit.

Re: F103 Wideband Controller

AFAIR lean AFR will output voltage close to zero. So this can possibly affect sensor warm up with stopped engine when atmosphere air is in exhaust pipes. Correct - high voltage means lean. We transition from open loop (heater ramp) to closed loop (PI heater, PI pump control) at 500 ohms ESR. Worst ...
