Re: Crowdfunding? Thoughts?
If we are dealing with getting like 10 boards developed, why would we need to pay kickstarter and such that 13% or what ever it end up being? I think we can simply do it. Unless your goal is to try kickstarter and get a feel for the process. However if we go for say 10 boards at say $100 each, that'...

I see several groups of people who partake in such a project. Many are younger perhaps in college or high school and often lack electrical experience or certain skills as they are still just getting out and about. Some are hard core designers often with Engineering degrees and can technically design...

Re: Project Frankenstein - full ECU shield
Very nice very nice. Now I just need to convince you to break the 10cm by 10cm rule so I can put that connector all on one PCB and get rid of that spaghetti. Also it would be nice if we added an optional 2 pin jumper such that you don't have to run that red wire along the edge of the PCB. We have 5V...

Re: Firmware developent status
I understand that those that make it to C# / mono often like C# /mono for a variety of reasons, mostly it takes care of lots of work the developer typically needs to keep track of. Is C# /mono physically an option for this project? If so would it be worth while to consider for this project?

Draft 2 PCB received. Now I just need to find the parts that need to be populated. I may have lost them at this point, and I may need to re-order those parts.

The USB TTL cable can not power the Discovery. The Discovery will need to be powered, probably from a secondary USB cable in your case.

Re: PCB temperature sensing.
I believe the temperature sensors are a really good idea and I believe that a heat sink will be needed. Per my predictions on this page https://code.google.com/p/daecu/wiki/Injector_driver_theory At around 9kRPM, I expect each injector channel to produce about 5 watts. 5 watts times 12 channels is 6...

Re: Mazda MX5 1.8 1999 AE
Sounds like you have your diode across the injector backwards. The 1N4001 will limit to 50V, which will prevent the MOSFET zener style protection from kicking in. I think this is why you seeing a significant change when you changed the diode. See pictures here http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: PCB temperature sensing.
The goal is to measure the heat generated by the injector and ignition perhaps the power supply. Basically if you don't have a good heat sink, or you mount it next to something hot, we could create a warning before failure, then shutdown before it goes out of spec. As well most MOSFET's have variabl...

When it comes to sniffing serial traffic with putty, I have had good success with com0com. This com0c...

I know the component requirements, so I can draw the schematic. What I don't know is if these low cost parts will satisfy the schematic requirements, or what the exact footprints are. So I have not drawn the PCB layout yet. They will probably be acceptable, and once I get the components, I can measu...

We certainly have a long list of features to develop. However we should keep a TODO list as suggested by puff here http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=470&start=23 So I have created a wiki page, and entered the first task to the list. If you have an item you would like added to the ...

Re: Mazda MX5 1.8 1999 AE
At say 1A and 12 ohms, we get P=R(I^2)=12*1^2 = 12 watts. However don't forget you are also dissipating the energy in the magnetic field. So even if you are doing say 50% duty, your going to dissipate more than 6 watts in the injector. Generally the fuel is cooling your injector, so the injectors on...

Re: Mazda MX5 1.8 1999 AE
Warm transistor probably means the diode is not working properly and the MOSFET's zener style diode is clamping the spike. This MOSFET is not designed for this kind of operation, and I would expect that to have a limit life working like that. It's also probable that when the zener style protection g...

That's in qty 1, the price goes down if you do a batch of 10. Probably decreases by around 20%, perhaps more. Those folks also populate prototype boards, I'd be interested in seeing what the total cost with assembly is.

It's primary purpose is for ignition, but it can technically be used for other things if software is written for it. I'm not very crazy about the 7 ohms thing. It would be nice if we could find a similar chip with a lower Rds.

PCB temperature sensing.
There are a variety of reasons whey we would want to measure the PCB temperature. Ranging from diagnostics, to warnings, to adjusting for temperature dependent signal delays. What chips are good for this? On one hand I'm tempted to suggest a thermocouple chips, as you can move the sensor easily. How...
