Re: Subaru SVX with custom RusEFI

I guess the pistons are from a EJ22 NA since only 22B had a turbo version of this engine. I don't know much about these particular engines since they were never sold around here. Generally EJ16 and EJ20 NA pistons don't tolerate much boost. People usually use 0.7 bar max but at much higher compressi...

Re: Subaru SVX with custom RusEFI

8.4/1 compression ratio calls for big boost. Even 8.8/1 can do 250kpa on a stroker EJ20.

If we cut the DFB lines like Dron_gus suggested is there any drawback if we don't intend to use the 5090 low side switches?

For when you have no access to the crankshaft, ie a Harley engine.

Another ECU that drops dead like flies is 64pin Magnetti Marelli in Fiats. BGA cpu and the ECU is bolted on the top of the engine. The only logical reason I see for an OEM to do that is to cut down on cable length for the harness.

I agree with everything stated above with just one remark. Amtech flux is amazing but you have to make sure you're buying it from a reputable source. The market is flooded with Chinese clones which are utterly crap. If you buy it from aliexpress you might as well use spit instead of flux. It will ha...

The period of a single tooth cam would be over 85ms on low rpms so could this be a case of the dreaded watchdog?

That's 36-2-2-2 and it's already supported. It's the same as Subaru. This will work fine.

Re: Distributor wiring and tooth pattern

This is a 4+1 like Mathew predicted. It will probably need a custom trigger built into the software. It it possible to install a cranck wheel like 36-1 with a generic sensor and not use the signal from the distributor at all? That would be the most reliable solution. A cam wheel with only 4 teeth do...

Looks like it will need a crank wheel installed to work properly.

Re: Distributor wiring and tooth pattern

As far as I know the G13BB has wasted spark ignition with two coils on the valve cover. The G13B had a distributor. Is this engine from a Suzuki Swift GTi or another car? Is it the 100hp version? Does it have 1 cam or dual cams?

Re: ETB setup - startup pin state

ETB driver ICs are built to switch on and off much slower than any normal MOSFET would in order to minimize EMI and ringing. For that reason when you use them at several kHz they tend to produce a lot of waste heat because they stay for a lot more time in the active region of the MOSFET instead of s...

I've tried detergent for hand washing clothes, baking soda, and hand soap. Basically any detergent will work more or less as long as it's not foaming. Re: How to clean used PCB headers

I have used the dishwasher several times to wash boards and it works a treat as long as it doesn't have any iron parts, they tend to rust fast. Just don't use the regular dishwasher soap because most of them are alcaline and can corrode some metals, especially aluminum.

The connector would not get damaged by the pressure washer but you'll have to secure it on a vice first.

For the green LED powering on with no USB cable it could be a short on diode D17. I can see no other path for 5V to end up on Vbus rail.

Re: Subaru GC8 EJ20G five years later

On the Subaru the VR sensor wires are shielded and the shield is connected to signal ground too. If you swap the wires you are basically using the shield to carry the signal and this can pick up noise like an antenna.

Re: Свап-корыто Subaru GC8 EJ20G

On other forums that I read there was a lot of drama with people swapping plus and minus wires of the VR sensor. It seems it's crusial for the sensor to be wired correctly. On the scope the waveform should first go plus and then minus. Having it inverted seems to not work even if you invert the sign...

I took more measurements and without the ecu plugged in I have 7V on that pin so it seems it has a pull up to 7V inside the cluster. Same goes for the rpm signal to the cluster.

Re: Peugeot 106 1.6 16V '97 TU5J4 NFX

Did some wiring tracing on the car and turns out that the schematic I found is mostly correct. Some differences in wires could be because of the different chassis but they are easily rectified. Trigger wheel is 60-2 with a VR sensor. Dwell time in idle for ignition coil is 5.1ms. Next time I will me...

Peugeot 106 1.6 16V '97 TU5J4 NFX

My best friend finally decided to put an MRE on his daily driver. The car had initially a 1.6 8v TU5J2 NFW 105hp that was swapped out with a 1.6 16v TU5J4 NFX 120hp from the scrap yard. I'm trying to locate a wiring diagram with the ECU pinout for this engine but all I can find is this http://www.au...

I've seen it but it's really small and tall. It's gonna be hard to balance the board on it and do actual work. Also it's only 65W so it's gonna take a while to heat up. The crappy Chinese heating plate is self regulated since it has a PTC heating element and it draws 1100w when it powers up and grad...

As for thermocouples, most Chinese multimeters support them and many come with one in the box.
My UNI-T UT139C and UT213C
and my Aneng AN8009 all support them with pretty good accuracy.

I've stopped using 220V soldering irons years ago. I made a video how to swap STM32 on a MRE with a PTC heating plate. It's super easy.
You'll need a heating plate, I got this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000582580757.html a set o tweezers and a little bit o flux paste.
