Re: Toyota SW20 MR2 Kswap

Yes, very clean and very neat work on the swapt. Question, 3" exhaust is good for...400+ hp, is there a turbo coming you forgot to mention? :) If not, I have 1 small concern. It looks like the 3" comes off the header which is basically the same size with no real merge or choke, am I seeing...

I timed bank 2 then rolled back to #1 TDC to remark them....the marks are perfect which caused more staring in disbelief.  Finally I arrived at I did the clay test pretty wrong.  I put it together correctly but because of the clay I just turned it and disassembled and then wondered what the hell had...

Re: FrankenFerrari - V12 Ferrari 308

Remember some of the assembly difficulties come from this being a franken engine....The heads were built to were with timing belts not chains so there was some..adapting required. The sump is supposed to go on last on a 400i, but here the 308 tranaxle is the sump and needs to be pinned to the block ...

Timing cover time....and this is the job from hell on this engine. First up, a stud for the timing chain drive pulled out on the last test fit so it needed to be helicoiled.  I like to fit or make a drill block to be sure it stays straight 20211114_162641-resized-1024.jpg 20211114_163052-resized-102...

Cams in and they at least LOOK about right 20211114_105108-resized-1024.jpg Once the timing cover is on I'll check them with a dial indicator.  The ferrari timing setup has (iirc) 25 holes on the sprockets and 24 on the cams setup giving 14.4 between holes on the sprocket and 15 on the cam which let...

Which of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ferrari_engines#V12/Flat-12/Ferrari_flat-12_engine is that? None? Several? The block/crank are from a 400i, so F101C. The heads are testarossa..F110. The Ti connecting rods and oil pump are F360, so F131? The transaxle is 308, The TBs are ducatic 749/9...

I measured the main bearing clearance with the bore gauge and got about 2.0 on the tightest and 2.4 on the loosest.  The original goal was to target 2.1 so that seemed like a win to me....but I was having trouble believing anything went right so I pulled out the plastigauge and it said they were all...

Switchable tables. Saved RAM. I'm pretty sure the enginelab table resizing doesn't save ram, its just a user friendliness feature....I might be wrong though. Motec has a similar feature, I have no idea how theirs actually works, its old, they have had the feature since back when RAM really mattered...

Few fought: 1. keep settings, tables as big as you want. On storage. Preload only used tables in ram. Can also solve request having several switchable tables. Will need some kind on software MMU. Dynamic allocation. Can cause out of ram issue during execution. 2. generate ini files on MCU side. Thi...

Re: Questions about the implementation

Say, that's a good idea for us to add. We've prodded the tunerstudio folks enough so that we can now update/log at a full 1khz, so engine phase is a fun thing to log. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut ever now and then, and even I can think of something useful now and again :) With the ECU I use, I...

3. Yes, this is a known thing. As you guessed it's a little fiddly to make the transition seamless for users. I didn't look to see if you are using it but TS added a 32 bit float, F32 as a variable type for us on the o5e project, didn't look to see if you're using it, or maybe they have since dropp...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?

Motec Mx00 series supported a load of MAP/BARO, which would be even more accurate. I think that is the only option in the motec M1 series. Not sure what rusEFI does with a baro input but that is what I use in my non-rusefi ecu as well (x100 to make it a %) so load is what % are you using of what is...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?

Very few people use baro For sure not needed but I have started installing them on anything I work on because you just get a better more versatile tune. It is useful on street cars running speed-density, pretty much required with alpha-n street or track. On a speed-density race car you can generall...

Re: Random harley info

I've not kept up on new stuff but for sure the older stuff used a delphi ECU, from a GM V6 iirc. There was a crank sensor but no cam position.....but they were full sequential. They had ion knock sensing and have very uneven firing (315 degrees then 405) as they use a common pin crank and a 45degree...

Re: Auto-tune does not produce good results

A sharp transient like flooring it at idle is pushing the limits of the O2 sensor's response time, so it's hard to see what's a real problem, and what's an insane transient that we don't expect valid lambda information from. and is as much or more a measure of wall wetting effects as actual tune. I...

I'm going to disagree with you there. *grams / cylinder* is the ultimate measure of cylinder pressure. Hmmm....what are the units of grams/cylinder.....grams right? Just sayin mass is not pressure ;) Sure, you can calculate it though and that is my point.....its just harder to human read a mass flo...
