Re: Rover V8

If the DWG is to scale, which it has to be because it is converted to tool path for CNC cutter, then it should be fine for VR sensor provided good alignment.

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

Couple of thoughts… The 40hz noise seems way too low for harmonics, but likely all that logic analyzer can catch (very likely root cause it at a much higher frequency). Guessing you do not have oscilloscope? If you have one, then start probing and you should be able to isolate. Start at power supply...

Re: 1995 Honda Accord - auto, vtec

How you approach crank decoding is to a large extent is hardware dependent. How many timers/counters, at what resolution (16, 20, 24, 32 bit), the higher the resolution the better the granularity. Also on modes of operation, single/double capture, with/without de-bounce filter… * rusEfi is implemen...

Re: 1995 Honda Accord - auto, vtec

V8 is going to be smoother than the 4-cylinder example that was posted. The 4-cylinder has a compression cycle every 180* (degrees), while V8 every 90*, so less torque ripple. While cranking and before engine starts, I tend to look at compression cycle like a pneumatic spring. If you want sequential...

Re: Maybe new rusefi target?

Unless I'm mistaken, they still have not published an application note or example for angle based control. It looks like a nice board, especially for price point. The 20 bit timer resolution is nice and can be cascaded.

I did say I know nothing about Honda... But from Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Honda_transmissions You get; Honda's automatic transmissions are unusual in that they do not use planetary gears like nearly all other makers. Instead, the Hondamatic and its successors use traditional, indivi...

Re: Transmission Conrol?

I don't know anything about Honda. The above controller, pretty much is low end of spectrum, not saying it's a bad unit, it's actually a very good and used it before. But referring to transmission types, most people use them with 4L80 (good to about 1000 whp) ~20 year old design. As a general rule 5...

Re: Frankenso - ECU shield compatible with OEM case

Correct when I said closes faster was referring to decay time. But base fuel pressure and injector design also factor in heavily. When you start dealing with large injectors, at idle they are nowhere near their linear region, so getting them to close quicker helps. Injector characterization in this ...

ChibiOS does run on TRK board, tested it last year. As mentioned elsewhere on this forum you will need to purchase ST JTAG programmer. I asked on ST forum about eTPU support, got the we have no plans for it at this time. Also ST SPC5 studio is c and not c++. It had/has issues with e200z335 core, cod...

Re: new test mule suggestions?

TCM these days or for last 10 or so years is CAN bus with proprietary PIDs (parameter ID). Some car models have a PCM (power control module) that is ECM + TCM, this is prevalent on 4 speed automatics. Be careful of driving transmission directly on new-ish models, not allot of documentation and those...

Re: GPIO implementation

This is somewhat common in aftermarket. I’ve only seen (w>x) AND (y<z) AND …. AND… You simply create a temporary bit that each expression can set or reset, when done if true turn on output.

I’ve been doing this for some time, allows end user some flexibility.

I would say the complete opposite, get a car with great tuning support. The best was to learn is actually tune, also with that you’ll get an idea of how to correctly control an engine. Use/tune OEM ECU then swap out to yours, then back and forth, see how they compare… Also get a GPS based box to mea...

Keep in mind that how you deal with power enrichment, will to some extent be dictated by your tuning software. Software needs/should know what commanded AFR is in order to derive error.

I've made a tiny bit of progress, the numbers did match up - see test_speed_density.cpp Do I understand it right that I would also need VE(RPM, MAP) and AFR(RPM,MAP) tables to actually get the ve and atf values for current conditions? Would 8x8 be enough for any of these or do we need 16x16? It rea...
