Re: Custom board base on Proteus Software trouble
I believe there are pin compatible stm32 f429 vg that will allow you to use the official firmware. It might be worth doing a chip swap. Proteus is intended to work with the larger ram on the 429 VG chips due to the number of features on the proteus. yes, all 144 pin f407/427/429/f767/h743 are pin c...

Re: Proteus .04 RPM Spiking, Trigger Error?
Test #1: Set "operation mode" to "4 stroke without crank sensor", re-check trigger offset with timing light. Set cam inputs to NONE. Set spark mode to wasted spark if not already. Take a log. Does the blip still happen? Test #2: Change nothing else, but add the cam input as it's ...

Re: Proteus .04 RPM Spiking, Trigger Error?
Right now I do not have an explanation. Let's start by updating project .ini and fixing your trigger setup. I bet issue would stay but maybe it would not? vvt position ~= double his trigger offset, and he's somehow in "4 stroke cam" mode and that works? Double his trigger offset smells fu...

Re: Proteus .04 ETB Idle Settings/Issuestuner
It looks like most of your problem is a lazy electronic throttle: image.png (the green and red traces should track almost exactly: one is target position, the other is actual position) I remember you recently changed the ETB PWM frequency. That probably means you need to re-run auto PID tuning for t...

Immediately after this happens, please CAREFULLY touch the ETB driver chip. It might be very hot (150C - no, I'm not kidding). If it is very hot, there are some things we can try.

Re: Frankenso going limp at 6,000 RPM.
A different and not-so-important question: the LCD is too bright, and can be read only from an angle. I'm using the hd44780 setting on it. Is there a setting that I can change to make it readable? I can post a picture tomorrow if needed. There should be a tiny potentiometer you can adjust with a sm...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
I have never heard of it, so I can't say anything about it. I heard years ago that there is probably no really good replacement for the hot wire MAFs. If mine break, they will be replaced with digital hot film MAFs and I will generate the appropriate voltage with an MCU. A corresponding prototype (...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
so if you plan on using 3 or 4 outputs for the transmission control, then 3 of the proteus digital outputs would be routed to the transmission harness? and custom code will be added for the transmission outputs? Yes, more or less. Probably definitely not a ton of C/C++ custom code. Most of the stuf...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
In principle, yes, but doesn't ABS intervene in engine management? Something like, if ABS regulates, then disable injection and / or ignition? I guess? But in practice, I don't think I've ever felt it (or noticed it). I've certainly heel-toed an ND Mazda and mk3 Focus on track while ABS was active,...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
We imagine that DME-SG I, DME-SG II and EML are no longer there and are replaced by Proteus. This means that we must either generate or respond to the following signals (from top to bottom): "must" is a relative term. For proper transmission operation, it probably just requires TR and DKV...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
Ahhh, okay, I see. I have overseen this setting. What is this assignment based on? On the firing order? Those are just ordinary cylinder numbers, not firing order position. My engine is numbered sequentially down the crank, so all the odd number cylinders are on the same bank, and use the same O2 s...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
Another question: how does Proteus know which sensors and actuators belong together? So, how the banks are "configured"? We have 12 cylinders, two ETBs, 12 COPs, one crankshaft sensor, one cam sensor, two MAF/MAP sensors and two WBOs. How does Proteus know that, for example, first ETB, cy...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
Regarding wiring: I will make a new motor wiring harness, designed only for Proteus, completely new. The problem with the old is that the insulation is brittle and broken. This was already an issue when the engine was overhauled. The car is already 30 years old. Oof, good idea. Does your car also h...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
I like that very much! That means I can use waste spark at the beginning but wire the COPs individually. And later I install the camshaft sensor and configure it to full sequential without changing anything in the wiring. I would do the wiring for the camshaft sensor from the beginning but not inst...

Re: BMW M70 in 8 series with Proteus?
Then, the M70 has a so-called cylinder identification sensor. It sits on the ignition wire of the sixth cylinder. Due to the fact that I have no more ignition cables, I need a replacement here. What can I use best? And what kind of triggering, a half moon, a tooth, ...? Sort of whatever will work. ...

Welcome to rusEFI! Then I came up with rusEFI, by chance I saw a video on Youtube with a M73. Cool, I want to have that! The specs of the Proteus read like it was built exactly for the M70, a dream. Thanks a lot for that! Hah, I designed it to work with my V8, but threw in some extra hardware so a V...

Dunno yet. That batch (and the re-order of that batch) both have F7. The F4 and F7 are functionally identical, but with the CPU core and RAM swapped out, so it's not too big a difference. The chips are fully pin-compatible, so I actually have a 0.5 in my car (came with an F42x) hand swapped to an H7...
