New TI Hercules LaunchPads coming soon.

Post by abecedarian »

Can't say much, but the new one should be better than the LS1224 as found on the LaunchXL2-TMS57012.
If there's any interest, I'll post more information as it comes to me, and I'm permitted to do so.

What chip package are they using? Is it still LQFP?

I believe that LQFP is with-in DIY spectrum and BGA is not.

AFAIK it's BGA.

However, I've noticed a trend in some communique suggesting pre-pop boards, so the few things that might need good reflow might be able to be performed in advance?

Someone at TI let it slip on the TI Wiki Hercules page.

Scroll to the bottom and look under "L".

Yep. On the right is the LaunchPad based on LS1224.
It is a little curious that the BGA chip doesn't have all the capacitors and such crowding it like the other has, right?
BTW- there are no components on the bottom of the board; just some silk screen about the BoosterPack header pin functions.

Chip up top is TM4C129 used for XDS110 ICDI / debug and programming interface.

Chip near middle is the TMS570LC4357.

If you follow the link I posted a bit ago, and scroll down the page like I said, you'll see something like "LAUNCHXL2...."
That will take you to their Wiki pages and you can get the schematics and such.

If you have more questions, or want pictures from different angles, let me know.

330MHz
4MB Flash with ECC
512KB RAM with ECC
This stuff is really good, I wish I had the time :( I wish anybody had time & skills to move this forward!

No one already invested is willing to abandon that, and I can't blame them.

In a similar vein, you are already over-taxed by the burden of rusefi, and few are stepping up to help you, so where would the extra help for TMS570 based systems come from?
