Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
A few RE users including myself and @Nightsknight45 (Both running a hellen NB1/2 respectively) are having difficulties tuning the idle throttle blip to be nice and responsive without bogging. I've currently got it to a point where it will only bog a little bit coming off idle and is pretty responsive if I give the throttle say a 50% or more blip but still not at a stage comparable to OEM. I've tried messing with the AE, wall wetting and the idle timing a bit but its more throwing sphagetti at the wall and seeing what sticks as I don't understand enough about what the main contributing variables are to it and how the log of a responsive blip should look.
Would someone be able to explain the main factors behind getting the engine to rev up quickly rather than bogging or if someone has a tune they could link to and explain why they set things the way they did to get it to work?
My current tune is here https://rusefi.com/online/view.php?msq=897 in case anything seems stupidly configured but if someone with more experience could shed some light on this dark art that would be great!

Beer any chance of full tune URL? Your screenshot does not include TPS/TPS correction table and there is no indication if it's all zero or not.

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
Hey Andrey, link below. For this instance, the blip is low throttle change which doesnt trigger AE. Thats why ive focussed on Wall wetting settings. I do see that i uploaded the wrong pic, it should have “evaporation tome constant” circled as the key setting of interest.

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
I'll give those settings a go

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
I've given those wall wetting settings a go and they were a slight improvement although I would really like someone to share the details of tuning the AE, AFR and spark for idle to get a nice blip

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
one thing i also did was to improve the transition from standard idle tables to the main tables. So if you are using idle VE and Idle ignition timing, you want to make sure the main table has those things correctly aligned as well. That way you dont get into any odd transitions.

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
You actually want a little bit of a discontinuity - when you push the throttle, you want it to add timing so that it makes more torque right away. Timing add is instant, fuel and air take time.BeerMoneyMotorsports wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 5:16 pmone thing i also did was to improve the transition from standard idle tables to the main tables. More progress with this tune. https://rusefi.com/online/view.php?msq=992
Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
This is my attempt to make the blip better but it still bogs. I've attached a log to this tune of me blipping the throttle at idle. Would someone be able to advise? https://www.rusefi.com/online/view.php?msq=1006

Did you ever get this figured out?

Re: Throttle Blip from Idle Tuning
SOLVED
The injection phase was the issue. For an MX5 it should be about 400 degrees but the base map had it set to -180/540 degrees
