Modifying Citroen Throttle sensor for rusEFI

Post by Simon@FutureProof »

There are cheap and readily available (in europe) cable driven redundant pedal sensors from the Peugeot and Citroen HDI engines.
These will make for cheap and light sensors to convert older cars to ETB.
In stock form they are designed to be driven from a regulated 12v directly from the OEM ECU.

In order to work with RE they need a quick mod to get the signals to a sensible output level so the sensor can be supplied by the regulated 5v coming out of the RE boards.

By doing this you end up with one signal 0.2v -> 3v and one signal 0.01v -> 1.8v

1 - Sig 2
2 - Sig 1
3 - 5v input
4 - GND

Quick addition to this with the pinout of the plug.

Well sad end to this one as the Citroen pedal turns out to not be temperature stable enough for use with RE.
When it warms up the low point gets lower and the high point higher resulting in lack of pedal travel and depending on when the pedal was calibrated (hot or cold) a situation where the high point goes past the 110% value and triggers a fault.

To this end a Honda pedal sensor has been found to replace the one on the side of the unit.

Pinout for the honda is:

1 Gnd
2 V+
3 Sig 1
4 Sig 2
5 V+
6 Gnd

If wired like this is has inverse 0.1-5v signals. Swapping one of the V+ and Gnd over will reverse the signal voltage.

Just to give an update, this Honda sensor has been spot on so far and has survived a couple of events with no drifting of the signal.
