1992 Mercedes 190e M111 swap

Post by wearslogan »

Hey Everyone, my name in Logan I'm working on swapping my 92 190e 2.3 n/a motor for a 2001 slk230k motor. Motors in the car with the stock slk engine harness and I ordered the 128 pin Mercedes Hellen PNP ECU, come to find out my harness has a different connect so it doesn't plug in. My plan is to either order and swap for an older harness with the correct connectors, or repin my current harness into an older style connector. I was curious if anyone else has done something like this or not and if anyone has the ECU pinouts for either both of those connector types?
Thanks

https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/wiki/Vault-Of-Mercedes-OEM is the start point for what we have, I can get more of similar diagrams. Looks like 2001 slk230k is not there yet let me add it in a bit.

I bet that ordering older harness is the way to go. If older harness would not work as is it looks like you would need a hybrid harness but I bet that hybrid harness would be above 80% old harness maybe with some percentage of new harness but hopefully none.

One of the M111 guys will know more, but it looks like your engine is Coil on Plug, rather than the older style wasted spark. There may be an issue with how your ignition is setup within the ECM. I know on the larger engines, ~95-00 throttle bodies have sort of an oval plug, 01+ have a different shape of oval; you may want to check that. I believe the crankshaft sensor also changed at that time. Personally, I would repin your harness into the older style plugs; I believe the pins are the same, so they should fit without chopping or soldering or anything.
