Hello from Florida

Post by NoSkillzEngineer »

Hello! My name is Kevin. I am an Electrical Engineering and Computer Science student that is just getting into CNC machines and robotics, particularly interested in anything open source, and having intimate knowledge of everything I create/make. I have been wanting to modify my car on a deeper level than just passively purchasing quality components. PCB design and surface mount electronics are still new to me, however I have been learning programming, circuitry, I have built my own "3D Printer" as well as making a few circuits from a bare PCB.

It brings me great pleasure to know there is an open source pcb design for an ECU. I've taken my ECU, or ECM out of my 2007 Nissan 350z, which has a DOHC 3.5L V6. I have a custom tune based off of a Cobb tune for my car. The last time I had the ECU out, I took off the shielding/case, however, neglected to take pictures. With some help from anyone interested, along with the help of my local makerspace/hackerspace, I intend to create a standalone ecu for my car, which shares quite a lot of similarities with the GTR engine.

Sharing my results and future Gerber files of course :]

For now, purely research while I build a mini PCB mill so I can fail a bunch...cheaply! Hahaha

Hello Kevin,

Welcome and pleasure to meet you. I once had a 1986 300Z, but that was long ago, and I don't have it now. It was a fun car.

Not sure if you have found the wiki, but just in case you haven't here's a link. http://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php?title=Manual:Hardware_Frankenso_board
Welcome to the friendlier side of internet crazy :)
