Screenshot of a log running Hellen72c on the Jimstim with "instandrpm" enabled. SD card logging did not work, so the logging speed is a bit slow, but instantrpm shows nice and steady rpms. Not ziggy-zaggy as one would expect when the teeth of the crank sensor are not where they are expected to be by the FW.

instantRpm was showing nice but value way 10% off! to be honest that's not how i was guessing it would show but at least it was wrong in this regard

nb2 decoder fixed by moving two points by 10 degrees

attached jimstim setup for nb2

on the header image yellow and red-ish on the left are +12v
black and loose grey are GND

green and yellow are cam and crank

TIL

VTCS stands for "Variable Tumble Control System" and was strictly added to help with cold start emissions regulations.

VICS stands for "Variable Inertial Charging System" and helps with power by using intake manifold resonance tuning to help force more air into the engine at a specific rpm range.

2003 has "Variable Tumble Control System" and looks like we do not really care about this system for track only applications.

They promise a record hot summer so I shall test A/C!

Compressor does not engage thus no chance to put gas into the system :(

Stefan says that thermal protector switch integrated into top of compressor is sometimes the reason for clutch not to get engaged but that's not the case on my vehicle :( Stefan has a probably working compressor on his shelf and he is shipping that one to me next.

does your A/C have a pressure sensor switch?? all my commercial compressors do. If the freon level is too LOW, it will not turn on the compressor.
protects the compressor from Frying out.

Car was running bad even on stock ECU, P0301.

New cheap matching plugs installed, runs better on stock ECU now.

Bagging this set as "test set for when when we implement misfire detection" https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/936

Innovate 3844 MTX-L reads 22 AFR on OEM ECU idling, that's after maybe 45 minutes on brand new recalibrated sensor.
I am tired of this.

AEM 30-0300 X-Series purchased.

Latest firmware car starts on H72 rev C without foot on the pedal, warnings are constantly going up.

Note that the picture above does not look great in terms of coil events being uneven. Picture in the post above matches the problematic images on JimStim see https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/2980

eBay seems to have two similar but differently fabricated revision of the wheel. "miata trigger wheel" search query.

I assume metal shape difference does not really matter but does it support the non-Hall nature of the actual sensor?

Car still starts without throttle application but something is different/wrong with idle: after starts there is a huge swing in RPM for a couple of times, this was not happening before, cranking to idle transition was smoother

Current hellen72 defaults are not great on my vehicle in terms of no-foot-cold-start

and log to tune auto-match seems to be broken :(

If you have to apply pedal to get it to cold start try either removing some fuel or adding some IAC. This is often an issue that the AFR is too rich on cold start or the engine overall needs more air for decent cylinder filling for starting.

Had a look at the logs, you seem to be cranking until you build up enough fuel to start.

Try setting your "fuel base mass (mg)" to about 35 and try again. I will take another look at the log once you have had a chance to try that one change.

I think most of the other settings are good enough, it just wants more fuel.

This miata does not like to start with a weak battery. Too many revolutions until we start to fire up due to VVT having extra cranking requirment?

I have an unhealthy obsession with Geehy apm32 products. Well, no: my custom Proteus did not start a car. USB works, SD card writes logs, ADC seems to show reasonable values - but no input capture on the real vehicle. No time to investigate further, there is a chance of soldering issue on this hand-build board.

I got a reply from the FAE: APM has NVIC with 8 levels, STM has 16 levels.
One very obvious problem we found is that the ADC calibration in system memory is missing. (non existent)
