AC Cobra / 1UZFE-VVTi

Post by pierreroc »

Hello, i am restoring an AC cobra replica and plan to put an 1UZFE/3UZFE-VVTi engine. I am looking for an open source ecu and rusefi seems to be a good choice. But i am wondering about VVTi control : is rusefi able to control it ? (i've seen that miata vvti works fine but here there is two inlet camshafts to control with PID). Thanks for your advices, have a good day !

Hello and welcome!

This was not done yet and could not be done with the firmware as is, but I would love to have your https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_UZ_engine running rusEfi and very little code is needed to support to VVT intake camshafts, especially since I bet you would be running same map on both :)

So, once you have it running without VVT let me know and I will get you the missing additional logic.

Is this electronic throttle or mechanical throttle? Do you have idle valve or is idle controlled using ETB?

Hello and thanks for the proposal of 1UZFE VVTi control. The engine has electronic throttle so i assume that idle is regulated via the etb. For now i work on the chassis (lots of work ...) so work on the engine will be in 2020 but i will follow rusefi project and ask some questions to prepare my engine swap (currently a rover engine).
Thanks, have a good day.
Pierre.
