so 6:2:1 is the go
I am not looking to gain any power, I need to stay within "reasonable change of cool sound result" instead of "if you X or Y you would not have cool sound for sure"
They PROBABLY already are 6:2:1 from BMW but regardless, sure, keep the factory stuff up front and play with the headers back to get the sound you want.

Just FYI, straight pipes are LOUD, the cats will help some but my experience living in NYS was straight pipes=noise tickets, not sure how NJ is....I live out in the country in PA but even here they write noise tickets. In the video of my car running you are hearing these:
https://www.amazon.com/Borla-40359-BORLA-Muffler/dp/B0060EI9XK/ref=asc_df_B0060EI9XK/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309898128610&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6264004546616351677&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007416&hvtargid=pla-451138627396&psc=1

3" borla XR1 race mufflers...yes even most race tracks have noise rules these days. something like this drops the noise from say 115-120db to 100-105 db, still loud but not painfully loud so ticket still possible but less likely.

I also have 2 quieter 2" mufflers with valves on the borlas that I will will be normally closed so normally quietish, then have the ECU on based on air mass flow so over 200-250ish hp (stock 308QV btw) it will go from quietish to loud so as long as I stay mostly off the throttle in town, I'm hoping to avoid noise tickets. Even the borlas aren't too bad at lower power though so maybe I could save the weight/complexity but I was scared I needed a bit more flow and added 2 more mufflers to get it...and then more parts because why not right?

The big mistake was parked outside for first 11 months of my ownership including during https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Ida and I guess that it has spend a few years exposed to the elements before I've made the big mistake.

It had maybe quarter of inch of water on the bottom of the trunk/around the battery, no obvious water or smell in the cabin.

I need to put it outside for a few months to get Passat into the garage. Where do I apply silicon or what shall I do?

Looks like the most popular leak on these is sunroof drains - but those go towards the front wheels and those actually flow great on my car.

Hello Andrey,

I have not forgotten you, had too much to do the days, it's pre-Christmas and banks have just year-end.... (I work in IT of a bank). I have today and tomorrow off, already built an adapter that can stay in the car to sniff the CAN messages. Tonight I'll go to the garage and write some logs.
Regards,
Heinrich

Trunk leak status update: I've decided to not care since so little water got into the car in a year.

Minor progress: there was that aftermarket something probably tracking device antenna wire routed via the trunk seal. I cut that doubt it would help.

Seal looks even no rust anywhere under seal. Checked drain of both trunk mounts/levers water gets into catch pans and flows down perfectly

Got some green stuff to top off P/S reservoir easy fix to remove one message from the dash!

Something tells me that fixing low beam left side bulb would be a bigger effort?

Done.

It was a mistake to touch it. More than an hour and I had a spare headlight assembly to train on! Even with the spare I broke a couple of retainers on the igniter. Between spare igniter and igniter on the car with same part number same everything somehow those igniters seemed mechanically NOT interchangeable. I have no idea what kind of baby monkey hands you are supposed to have to swap those bulbs. I guess bumper removal and complete headlight assembly removal is the official procedure?

there is also the plain old OBD scanner which says

P0347 is it Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input (Bank 2)
P1059 Valvetronic / VVT voltage something?
P0444 EVAP I do not care much
P0102 MAF that could be from me starting with MAF detached while changing a bulb, time to reset codes

A driving rusEFI 760 would require both DI and 6HP26 CAN bus control. While DI progress would happen on the Passat before it happens on the 760, 6HP26 progress well, has to happen on one of the 6HP26 :) At least one of us would have to cut 6HP26 CAN wiring and figure out which messages are coming out of 6HP26 and which messages are needed for 6HP26 to operate.

Based on https://fusesdiagram.com/bmw/fuses-and-relay-bmw-7-e65.html I am tempted to remove the following from glove box panel:

6 5A CD changer
7 7,5A Cruise control unit
8 10A Dynamic drive
9 5A Tyre pressure control unit (RDC)
10 15A Air-conditioning control unit
11 7,5A Rear information display
12 20A Steering column switches - let's see if this one would include gearbox selector
17 5A Dynamic stability control (DSC), Light switch module
19 30A Door control unit, rear left
20 25A Dynamic stability control (DSC)
21 30A Door control unit, front left

34 5A Antenna amplifier
39 50A Dynamic stability control (DSC)
42 50A Central locking
43 50A Cigarette lighter relay
44 50A Light module

From trunk

Until we get https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/1731 or https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/3660 I would need a good old power switch all additional on-board electronics. I would love to hack into X6011#2 same as X60093#17 behind F34 5A.

Question: does anyone know which of integrated supply module plugs is X60093 which X6011?

Still no luck with INPA. I've attempted EasyBMWTools and that made things a bit worse.

On the one hand, at least it gets ignition key right - so at least software is communicating with my "JahyShow USB Interface Cable Car Ediabas K+ Dcan USB OBD OBD2 OBDII Diagnostic Scanner Compatible for BMW R56 E87 E93 E70" dongle from Amazon

I now have detailed error messages but in German, is that best I can hope for?

E65 does not have CAN on OBD port so I had to solder a custom PT-CAN CAN-enabled OBD port :)

Proteus is in the middle of trans wire here, I can replace Proteus with a shorted plug to get things into more original state.

Orange fuse is barely visible but it's there

cut GND, power and CAN wires - solder a connector from eBay. Well, technically that's not "A port which responds to ODB commands via CAN bus" it's only a "port where CAN bus is accessible which looks like standard OBD port"

I broke it a bit.

Problem statement:
Car starts and drives. Car does NOT report transmission faults, car responds to kick-down. Tachometer works.

Speedometer does NOT work. A lot of DSC/airbag/brake lights on the dash. Feels like power steering is not working.

What I've messed with:
at some point I've pulled and since returned many fuses back, all from glovebox fuse box.
I've also hacked into PT CAN bus wiring - at the moment there is not OEM connector breaking those lines and not OEM jumper connecting those.

Not sure which way to address this.

Fuses 8, 17, 20 and 39 are there and those are fine. Worst I could have done on the fuse box would be swapping some fuses of same rating or flipped some fuses.

Wonder if how power steering related to all that.
