Custom 1.0 3 cylinder [microRusEFI]

Post by JakeHartline »

I've had eyes on rusEFI project for like a decade. Last year an opportunity came up to get this engine running AND get paid for it. I've had ebay kit lying around, soldered it, made wiring, got running. I would say actual tuning began only recently, when I got the dyno working, but stopped shortly after. The engine is getting shelved. Crew is working on a newer version because they couldn't get custom crank and cams manufactured in low quantities.

Wiring is a bit of a mess, this is the third place it (and engine) is installed at (one of them was UTV, I have video somewhere doing doughnuts). And we were always in a rush, so things were skipped here and there.
Me and my friend worked on it. This was our first experience dealing with rusEFI and second with engine management overall. First was a cammed ls3 with E38 ECU.

I've got different engine running with MRE in the meantime, it didn't work long due to unrelated issues. Also currently looking for a board to do turbo 5.3 sloppy build for myself.

So, pretty smooth experience with rusEFI so far. Thank you. Had issues along the way, sure, but worked through most of them.
Documentation is lacking, but that is well known. Source code is next best documentation, which admitedly, wasn't super clear ether (I'm more of a suckless fanboy). I'll try to contribute something.

I have an (NA) sloppy 5.3 build running a Proteus. In fact, I designed Proteus because I wanted a rusEFI ECU for my v8 :)

I know. I might take the plunge and order one assambled kit for myself, but I would like a few boards (for my friends and such). Can't afford multiple right now. Been monitoring JLC for a while and that's not looking great ether. I'll think about it.
