ok I still think I have the wrong log files again. I generated the log from this test and it didn't like this one either.

but I did get a return signal seen by TS in the attached image.

Your pain reminds me of https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/1173

Also just added "Invert Primary Input" right on engine sniffer

But either way without clear documentation on all this you need me on the phone while screen sharing to see relevant diagnostics and try some tricks :(

OK so here's the latest. I ran the timing light cranking tests and Proteus passed.

My marks suck but first test with Trigger Angle set at -44 and fixed cranking advance set to 20 I'm seeing 19/21 on my timing light. Aside from my marks suck my eyes suck I'm calling it good enough for now.

My second test was to change the cranking advance from 20 to 30 and confirm with the timing light and it checked out 29/31 with the light.

All appears to be working properly on the ignition side now.

We'll now I'm not sure what happened.

I turned on the fuel pump. I added a fuel VE table for a starting point. and added a little cranking fuel. Went to start the car and lost ignition. it starts counting to about 145 rpm and then stops. When I look at the trigger rise/fall gages only one is counting the other has stopped. if I tweak the trigger gap override setting from 1.26 to a lower number it changes which gage counts I believe when it's 1.26 as the low setting in the override. the rise counts and when it's below the low counts. but I can' t get both to count again.

So "Data Logging" menu, start log/stop log. In "Communication" menu make sure "data set" is set to "max"

I'll see if I can get a log generated in between rain sessions. what I don't understand is why the behavior is back. Here's what I suspect.

Whatever you changed when we were on screen share did not get picked up by my tune. When I made the changes to proteous for fuel. it wiped out the changes you made. The one change I know you made was altering the Trigger Gap Override and I set that back to what you entered. It also wiped out the trigger offset. I had to set that back to -44. And now I'm seeing the one sided trigger again. my suspicion is I'm missing something you set and all will be good again.

All worked great till I tried to update the fuel. I don't think we have a new issue. I'm trying to undo what I think I broke.

Good News we have a almost starting car.

Got a new coil because the last firing tests failed because the coil blew out. Now we have a new coil car runs on factory ecu and now is stumbling to start on the Proteus. So I believe I have fire, Air and Fuel, just need to figure out the proper percentages and I think the car will run.

So while we made great strides with the for PIP system, the voltage inconsistency in my car with the battery in the trunk I think is giving us headaches. If anyone knows a unmolested running/driving 88-93 mustang 5.0 in the south jersey area. I believe we have a solution.

In the mean time I've made a bracket for mounting a crank position sensor on the oil pan rail of the 302. it tucks away nice on the drivers side under the waterpump not behind it like other brackets. This will solve the inconsistent crank position reference I'm dealing with and possibly make the car run even better.

I finally got to installing the bracket and wheel for the crank sensor. Now I just need to wire it in and set the alignment of the sensor hopefully some time this week. I made 2 so if anyone is interested in the other one message or email me.

Hi it's been a while since I sent a update on this. The project kind of stalled for a while, While I setup me new business.

After completing the crank bracket it only took me a few months to decide on how to make the coil pack brackets. I think they came out cool. Only one screw up of mine where one of the standoff bolts is under one of the coul packs. I'll change that in the future for now it still works. I'm trying to source material where I can make these for Small Block Ford RUSefi users. I can make for other cars if interested message me.

The plan is to have them mounted next week. I'm making the stands this weekend. I'm taking the car to Cecil Dragway the 28th if anyone wants to check them out next weekend. I doubt I will have the car wired and running the proteus by then but won't be long before it's working.

Project Plan from here is...

- Get the car running with what I have. Hopefully by early Nov.
- Design a case to mount Proteus and the ford Adapter board. Have lots to do here.
- Work on Trans Brake and Nitrous configs for Proteus.

That's all I got for now.

Finally have everything mounted in the car and the wires run. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have it running !!!!!

Ok I got it all together. I can use the test bench to test every coil and they all fire perfectly. So now I'm trying to set the Trigger Angle advance so I have a proper 0 degree mark for the ECU. But I can't seem to get a steady timing mark. When I crank and watch with a timing light the mark moves 20 degrees. It flashes 0 for 3 flashes then moves 10 degrees for 3 about flashes then moves 10 more degrees for 3 about flashes and then back to 0. In the past it would just lock in on whatever mark and stay.

Under Cranking Settings I have

Timing Advance = Fixed (autoTaper)
Fixed Cranking Advance = 0
Fixed Cranking Dwell = 4.0

Under Ignition Settings I have

Enabled = True
Mode = Individual Coils
Timing Mode = Fixed

I imagine I'm missing something somewhere but not sure what. Also I have no clue what "Fixed (AutoTaper)" mode means. In my older versions it just said fixed. Maybe that has something to do with it. Anyone with any ideas please let me know.

Any chance your cranking is above 350 and it sometimes uses running timing? I would temporary raise your cranking RPM to 2000 just to be sure that it uses the simplest timing mode possible.

Also please write a log file it might have some clues.

I'll check that out. I think there's a possibility it might have been a loose power lead on the coils but I will check your suggestion because my starter does spin fast.

Where was the area the tunes got up loaded to. I'd like to get some good ideas on cranking fuel settings and that kind of stuff.

ok I found a trigger issue and I'm not sure how to handle it. Below is the RUS Console output. I think something we were messing with to get the pip working needs to be undone. but not sure what?

I will look at the sensor gap and shielding the wires but the trigger counters never miss a beat. What I did find is we had valuse in teh trigger gap override.

I have to do more verifying but it seems that even though I had TGO set to false I think it was reading the values anyhow. I set them all to 0 and the error seems to have gone away. At least that's how it appears right now. I test some more tomorrow.

So Aparently you were right I had the crank sensor too close to the wheel. I have a solid timing light now and a good 0 setting. Now just have to get this fired up.
