My engine is Toyota 2gr-fse.
It is 3.5L V6. It has D4-S twin injection fuel system. This system combines direct injection with traditional port injection.
Also it has 4 VVTi-s.
It's output is 305 @ 6,400 RPM.

Lovely! From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_direct_injection:
Adding this function to the EMS requires considerable enhancement of its processing and memory, as direct injection plus the engine speed management must have very precise algorithms for good performance and drivability.
Can anyone please elaborate on what is the complexity with GDI exactly? Does it make a number of injections within one cycle? How the heck are we going to figure out the algorithms? :)

At least in this engine GDI is only for the environmental efficiency
Using direct injection and port injection simultaneously facilitates maximum power under high load conditions, while low and medium load conditions more precise mixing of air and fuel for greater efficiency dictate the use of direct injection alone.
This might sound depressing, but I suggest we start by using only the port injection and add the direct injection later, when we get this at running at least on the port injection.

Nice, is this the high pressure stuff with the high voltage injectors? Also are you interested in trying to drive that kind of injector? I once drafted a PCB circuit to drive this kind of higher voltage injector. However I never built it as I don't have direct injection to play with.

Yes. Yes I want to use this kind of injector.
