Hi new to the board

Post by elimeir80 »

Hi my name is Eli, I am an automotive tech with 15+ years years of experience (mostly VW, Audi, Mercedes Benz and some Porsche). I have played alot with Megasquirt (MSNS1) back in the day, I had my 1988 16v Scirocco running on msns for 3 years but I found myself wanting to know more. I now have a new toy (I still have the Scirocco) a 1990 GTI that I am hoping to turn it in to a rolling electronic experiment. I hope I can contribute to the rusefi project in some way, but for now I know absolutely nothing about the programming end of embedded electronics. I have tried my hand at cracking the Bosch M and ME ECU's with some luck..its not my cup of tea, the torque request algorithm that the Bosch ME ECU's use is over my head. If any one needs I am good with wiring and connectors, I can read read wiring schematics and understand them, I don't really have a problem with the hardware but the software is where I get lost

About my new project its a 1990 Golf GTI with a 20v Turbo engine sitting in the engine bay, my goal is to have it running and use it as a learning tool.
I ran across the 2 threads in Russian about the same engine (no i don't understand Russian, wish I did) and will try and read them (google translate) before
I post.

Nice B4 passat project, the ABA is one of the most reliable engines vw made. I am located in Point Pleasant NJ (also have a house in Texas) I don't drive up that way very often, the traffic is atrocious up there. For now i am gathering information and parts, I still need to get the 02A gearbox fitted and working, I have an AWP (03 GTI) in the engine bay for now, I still have to build the engine wiring harness, the factory one was destroyed in the accident that the donner car suffered.
BTW the 7 pin TSZ-H module that you are using has a digital tachometer output (pin #7) that your cluster should recognise.

Hi.
I wouldn't say it is a big traffic. This summer I was in your area on a beach with my wife. It was first time. It took around 1 hour to go there.
