I had some time this weekend to start diddling around. Waiting on more parts from digikey and ebay. hitting junkyard near me to grab some lq coils and other misc in the next few days.

It appears you have the power supply populated. Does it generate 5V?

Yes, outputs 5.000 volts spot on. Hopefully I can get some more accomplished over the next few days.

I run 93 octane gas and frankenslut will push over 350 hp...

Yes it is 16:1 compression, stil 375-380 psi at cranking with 20,000 miles on it!

It has one cam sensor, which I believe is 1x. Two crank sensors, one is 7x and other is 24x. I am no way a programmer, but have hacked around the ecu, could rusefi support this style of cam/crank sensors? I need individual injection, individual fired plugs, 8,000 rpm, and excellent fast knock detection. I don't have room for much error with this powerplant, but I believe this would be the cats ass, up and running.

Do you know specifics about the x24 trigger wheel shape?

Just added http://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php?title=Manual:Software:Trigger#GM_7x image to the trigger shapes catalog.

Depending how far you would take Discovery apart you can either still use it to program your stm32 chip or you would need something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-ST-Link-V2-Stlink-Emulator-Downloader-Programming-STM8-STM32-w-Metal-Shell-/222427376056

On the 24x external crank, when I was digging in code, seemed like it was only used below 2000rpm for better resolution, then the ecu would switch to internal 7x crank. Gm was pretty funny about that. I could dig around to find the signal pattern for the 24x, but I may not use it if it can't go all the way to 7500-8000 rpm with good signal.

More signals more resolution is probably better?

If the sensor can handle it, I would like the resolution.

I don't think I have ever tested the 24x at higher than 4k when a block learn is done. So it will hit 4k, maybe the 8k mark might be do-able.

Maybe get running on the 7x with frankdenso, then work/sniff out the 24x sensor.

On the knock sensor crystal, I was sent an 4mhz. The schematic/bom is calling for 8mhz, which do I use?

Both 4mhz and 8mhz and a few other options work, there is a software configuration which you would set to 4MHz. Use the one you have.

Found this while digging.

The 24x crank reluctor looks to be 24 even spaces with no sync pulse.

I wonder if that was to reduce the number of interrupts to prevent processor overload.

It is possible that the voltages saturated something at these different RPM, such that you did not get a clean signal. However I suspect you are correct that they ran out of CPU cycles and could not pump the bits fast enough.

Found some more tinkering time.. Managed to almost complete the ecu and got it to light up. Had to pat self on back for doing all that with one hand functional. Got to work on the values my sensors have for the final resistors and finish last of the diodes under the board. Taking break for today.

Found some lq4 coils at the junkyard today(the ones with cooling fins). About the same as the ls2 coil schematic.

Should I use caps like this suggests?

I vaguely remember these may have a delay in millis, I would assume that's from the fet and/or ignitor.

LS2s have no appreciable delay. Not sure about the LQs.
In any case: Easy enough to verify with a timing light.

The caps are a good idea, but not really required. The smaller one helps make for a more square signal. It's compensating for small inductance of the signal wires. The larger cap on the 12V is s small bulk cap, which helps the energy start flowing as there is a bit of a lag pulling energy from the battery which is far away. The cap should be located close to the coil, such that it can provide some energy very quickly allowing some time for energy farther away at the battery to get flowing.

Not sure if same or different but survived a race with just 5v control from the board

Tore an instrument cluster apart from an 05 Malibu. Hmmmm.... Just a funny little 5v stepper motors... Add that to my to do list. Possible arduino driven dash cluster.

I have 2 bosh 4.2 wbo2 sensors. Has anyone used the apsx diy wb controller boards? How's the response time on that board?
