Aussie Ford ba 5.4L v8

Post by Jamie »

Hi,
I am A Newbie to forums so I apologise if I don't get things correct.... I am a mechanic so I know a bit about cars.
I have started a frankenso 0.4 board build to go into my Australian Ford Falcon xr8 quad cam 32 valve 5.4L engine with 5 speed manual cog box.
This is going to be a long project as I only get a couple of hours a week to populate the board.
I hope to complete the ecu and start the engine in Feb 2018.
The engine is simular to the USA Mustang 5.4L but the block is cast iron and our aussie version starts at 260kw at the flywheel na and up to 315kw na for the hi compression variant.
It runs a e-throttle that I hope to run with the Frankenso 0.4 or I could build a Arduino to do the throttle as standalone system.

Welcome to the forum.

We have a thread in here about ETB. So far it has had limited success.

Hi.
I will try to set up E throttle but if it wont play along I can put a mechanical one on it .
The car uses a can bus too so i will sniff the system and data log the current timing etc befor plugging in the frankenso .

Hi everyone.
I have populated the 0.4 board and while testing the power supply i managed to touch 2 pins on the voltage regulator with the multi meter probe and popped a a227c and the a19t ####.

I replaced them and now have 5v to the lcd pin and discovery pins.

As i was setting the voltages for U601 - U604 i noticed that the power led would go off when i installed the jumper on P607 which is U604 s vp4 to 5v jumper pin .
I then started looking closer at U604 and found that i have 1 x ic with 4621 on it.
The other 3 have tc4427ac on them as per the schematic ! not sure how i missed that !
I have ordered one from alliexpress so i will be close to getting it soon .

Hi.
I have a ecu plugs and socket from another vehicle that i am making a patch lead from and can start to move the inputs to the 0.4 board.

Something not right with images - can you spell out how are you trying to add these? Do you have files on your desktop or are they internet files?

There is "attach" button for local files

I was thinking ahead a bit .
Will try to keep the factory ecu in the system to run e-throttle but i can change the throttle body to mechanical and run isc valve .
The factory ecu seems to have only 75% throttle up to 4000 rpm then gives 100% to 6000 rpm.
Torque limiting !!
Might need to put resistors on old ecu injector and ignition coil circuits to stop error codes ?

I had it running and drove it on to the hoist to pull the engine out .
Was fun to remove as the chassis rail was wrapped around the headders and timing cover .
Normally there is about 25mm each side of the engine

Looks like they where a tree huger. I wonder if they decided that being a tree hugger wasn't the best idea they have had :)
