from what i see in datasheets there should be no problems in connecting all these chips.
there definitely is a market (altho not huge) for such stuff on lcds, but in this case we've got an lcd, and i need standard needle gauges - they are much easier to read..

small update. crank sensor and my old-style needle tacho seem to be working just fine.
Got the large enclosure and connectors.
These will be installed under the hood.

Kind of too many connectors on a single wall. Could put the large one on the longer wall, but that would make it harder to remove the board from the enclosure in case I need to check something on the bottom of it.

Looks like lots of vertical height, you could zig zag them on that one end to keep good spacing from each connector, such that you could get your fingers around the connectors.

Sure, but that's not an issue. Besides, I can first solder the wires, before I install connectors, and then solder them to the board.
So, it is more like aesthetics issue.
It's a pity my drill press is far away and I have no proper drill bits with me. So, this will probably happen next spring ;-)
Meanwhile, I am thinking of building some fixture or a rack to hold the board. There are couple of handy slots on the walls for that purpose...

still need suggestions for pins/frankenstein pads for idle stepper control and 4 channels for ignition.

I'd probably order those msop tc4427 chips for high-side output from aliexpress and use pe8,10,12,14 for ignition control (with proper pads on frankenstein). (couln't find any alternative in the same package)

what about stepper control? some pads next to lcd?
here's my current pins output:

how does it behave when the input is grounded and when there's 2.7v there? what are the outputs with 5V supply then?

I couldn't find pin #1 of P602 on frankenstein.
What's the purpose for R601 & R604 there? Don't we need to pull the output down, replacing LD601 with a resistor?

msop? I want to say we are using the larger soic do not we?

Do not remember which pins we have available on Frankenstein, it's an old board and I've forgotten most of that. Not even sure if enough pins are exposed if you have an LCD and stepper at the same time.

yep. that's the old board. I sourced soic-packaged chips as per initial BOM, and I got disappointed - they were too large and didn't fit onto the board :-(
Probably, I can use them in some other projects :-)

It seems, there are still some pads left unpopulated on frankenstein. But the silkscreen is often unreadable, which makes it a bit difficult to get through. And it takes too much effort to master kikad apps - in eagle it's pretty simple to see the whole signal, but I don't know how to do that in pcbnew...

In pcbnew on the right, you have layers, with check marks. You can turn off copper layers, back pads, silk layers etc.
