another MCU board option

Post by AndreyB »

just want to save the link: http://www.mikroe.com/easymx-pro/stm32/mcu-cards/

Image

the benefits of this option:
0) not a random Chinese vendor
1) naked board available cheap
2) no licensing issues as with Discovery
3) we can probably solder the 180MHz to these board

Interesting idea, but how do you get the 'firmware' on it?
I don't see any JTAG or emulation hardware.

In order to just flash stm32 chips you do not need any hardware - one can flash them directly via USB pins if BOOT0 & BOOT1 pins are in the right state.

As for debug, you can use SWD from Discovery if you have access to the right pins.

If only these guys had 144 and 168 pin versions of these boards. Actually I think that one day we would use our own 144 or 168 pin breakout board - this case people can assemble their boards without the pain of stm32 super-fine-pitch soldering.

So you would need 'specialized' hardware on the 'main' board... (I'm considering the processor here as part of a 'daughter' board)... to facilitate programming?
Fine and dandy.

This does, however, put the brakes on my efforts to generate a TMS570LSxxxx board since it would need to be compatible with whatever you settle on.

Realistically that's just an idea for some day in 2018 :)

Yep....

And it will self-tune, drive the car, apply the brakes, shift gears and serve coffee Starbucks can't match. :P
